Band of Brothers Shipyard Destroyed: Contents Unknown

The conflict that has gripped New Eden escalated to a previously unseen level today during a coalition assault on a Band of Brothers capital shipyard in F-TE1T. An unprecedented array of capital ships were present during the attack and the Coalition lost dozens in the successful effort to take down the structure. The aftermath proved to be a salvager’s dream with a wasteland of wreckage left behind and both sides claiming victory.

When the explosions cleared, BoB had lost their tower and capital yard, along with anything that may have been inside. In return, the coalition lost at least forty capital ships, with estimates ranging as high as fifty-five. Regardless of the final figures, it marks the largest number of capital ships destroyed in a single engagement in the history of New Eden.
From all available evidence the pro-BoB forces suffered zero capital ship losses during the engagement.

At first The Coalition insisted that the capital shipyard contained a titan in production, which would have been lost in the destruction of the tower. If this is true, it is the second titan that the Coalition has destroyed in such a fashion. However, it would appear that now they are backing off these claims, showing the insidious nature of this conflict where claim and counterclaim are bandied about with reckless abandon by all parties, showing how imperative it is to win the PR battle as much as the actual one.

Nevvyn, a representative of Dusk and Dawn Alliance, acknowledges the substantial capital losses, but also made it very clear that “the target was the POS, anything else was strictly secondary.” According to him, significant losses were expected and prepared for. He refused to comment on The Coalition’s next move, and when asked for a statement, replied that the actions in F-TE1T spoke loud enough.

On the subject of today’s plans, Nevvyn was more forthcoming, saying: “Very simply, both sides formed up well in advance, the target system of F-TE1T had been full of 150-200 hostile pod pilots since the early evening. Steps had been taken to prevent our entry into the system, although we had secured our entry well in advance.”

A single warp disruption field had been placed at the POS which upset The Coalition’s idea for a rapid exit, Nevvyn explained: “The plan itself was simple, jump in, engage the pos, destroy it, and then get out. Hit and Run tactics if you wish. The first part of the plan went exactly as intended, thanks to the skill, dedication and professionalism of our pod pilots. However, it seems that there were technical difficulties with the jump gates leading into F-TE1T and also with the jump portal on Emily (The D2 Titan), despite our best efforts, when it came to the "run" part, we could not get our support into system.”

Concluding the outcome from The Coalition’s point of view, Nevvyn was succinct: “The plan was executed well, the goal was achieved, the POS died. In the Capital Ship Assembly Array, we believe there was a Titan class ship building. As with everything, gaining intelligence about the opposition is not always an exact science, and it seems the opposition have taken appropriate steps to ensure that we cannot verify our claim.”

On the other side of the conflict, Shrike, BoB Avatar pilot and close friend of SirMolle, remains confident saying: “The Coalition is now on its knees without a capital fleet. The train has hit a brick wall. They just rolled the dice, off the table in a wild gamble. I hope they think the gamble was worth it because now they don’t have a backbone.”

To give an idea of the scale of the engagement Shrike added: “We had about 2000 pilots involved tonight in various ops all over, all for the purpose of killing the capital fleet. And the capital fleet is dead.”

Meanwhile, the war continues on. Seleene, executor of the Mercenary Coalition (MC), also granted IC an interview after the battle. The MC has openly acknowledged that it is under contract from the Band of Brothers and is assisting them in the war effort, and dozens of MC ships were present in the area of F-TE1T during the fight.
According to Seleene, MC’s current focus is to combine forces with BoB allies in order to achieve ‘short-term goals’. She refused to go into details with regard to what these goals were.

Summing up the battle, Seleene added an interesting point of view to events, saying: “While it's true The Coalition succeeded in their goal tonight, no group can sustain those sort of losses over and over again simply to eliminate one target.”

Sesfan Qu'lah of Goonfleet insisted: “(Our) morale is absolutely fine, most of us didn't even get to fight and we want another chance. Titans are so powerful that nobody can afford not to attack them while they're building.”

The strike represents a huge gamble on the part of The Coalition, but with a very large potential payoff. As Sesfan indicated, his side could not ignore the opportunity although responding to claims the losses had derailed operations, Nevvyn stated: “The war is still very much growing, a very slow but relentless movement.”

In the end, the deciding factor of the victor in the battle comes down to what was really building inside that tower’s capital array. As of the writing of this article, there has been no definitive confirmation by any party of what, if anything, was inside. The capsuleer community is forced to wait for BoB to divulge that knowledge, and if sources prove accurate, the much-anticipated answer will be coming within the next few days from BoB’s leadership.

Whether or not this battle will prove to be a turning point, remains to be seen, it is, however, destined to go down as one of the most memorable in New Eden history.

The home of hedonism, risen from the ashes.

The renowned Cats Whiskers reopened last week, following a six-month closure to refurbish the club after it was ravaged by an unexplained fire. The proprietors Bressty Chastaine and Paul Giselle have been busy since opening night promoting the nightclub as “the premiere nightspot for hedonism in the Federation.”

Following the destruction of the club some six months ago, it was thought by many that the infamously decadent Cats Whiskers was doomed to fade into obscurity like so many other pleasure hubs scattered throughout the Gallente Federation. It was only after securing a deal with a group of Federation-based investors that it was restored and overhauled into an even more opulent establishment than it’s previous incarnation.

To celebrate the reopening, owners Paul and Bressty organized for the eminent Halo Axegrinder of Starved Fedo to make a guest appearance. Unfortunately Mr. Axegrinder was unable to perform due to what his managers later stated was “an unexpected and sudden illness.” Ms. Chastaine replied however, that he was “unexpectedly lightweight and suddenly drunk”; suggesting perhaps that the celebrated rock star was a little too enthusiastic with his own celebrations.

Despite the lack of Halo’s performance, the many capsuleers that attended the opening night seemed not to mind, as the drinks and entertainment flowed freely regardless. In an impressive financial display, Ms. Chastaine awarded a Vigilant-Class Cruiser blueprint to a Mr. White Templar, who with many other pilots had taken part in one of the competitions of the night. Relative to most Gallentean nightclubs advertising budgets, the prize represents a vast sum of ISK, showing just how serious the owners of the Whiskers are about putting it back on the map.

The Cats Whiskers has enjoyed early success since reopening, frequently drawing large crowds including a sizeable capsuleer base, most of whom are fast becoming loyal patrons. Tainting this initial accomplishment however has been rumours of underhanded activities happening in the bar, such as illegal narcotics sales. Ms. Chastaine has vehemently denied the reports however, and stated in no uncertain terms that such things are strictly prohibited in the club. “We are the centre of hedonistic pleasures, that is for sure, but we do not cross the line into illegal activity. It’s not smart, and I doubt it is even profitable either. I’ve had my own struggles with drugs in the past and I want them far away from me, my girls, and my patrons.”

Defending her against the allegations, some capsuleers have contacted the Interstellar Correspondents to confirm her words. One pilot who wished to remain anonymous stated, “at the first sign of boosters in her club Bressty became infuriated”, threatening “extreme repercussions” and confiscating the contraband. “She certainly seems to want to keep her club clean…at least in that regard,” the pilot remarked.

In spite of the slight controversies since reopening, Bressty and Paul remain upbeat about the future success of the Cats Whiskers. “I’m no stranger to a little publicity,” stated Bressty, “its all lies of course…someone trying to damage me, but even the negative stuff helps us get the name out there…having a perfect reputation is bad for business in my line of work anyway.”

The Cats Whiskers is open most days of the week, and can be located at the basement level of the sole station in the Balle system, Disier constellation. Pilots can expect good music, good drinks and good company. Those looking for small time work supplying goods are encouraged to contact Bressty or Paul at the club during business hours.

Combat booster production begins on the frontier.

Pilots desperate for any edge in space will rejoice at the news of the marketing of combat boosters by various capsuleer organisations. Initial batches are already hitting the markets and seeing use in battle as Corelum Syndicate and Hedonistic Imperatives lead the way, with their unique focus on black market commodities and services.

In a press release issued last week, Corelum Syndicate stated that they were now taking orders for Exile combat boosters. This initial market push represents the culmination of many months of collaboration and applied research in the outer regions of lawless space. It has also come to symbolise a first step for the alliance and indeed, all frontier capsuleers, towards continued development in the field. For the moment, however, the focus in the Syndicate's operations is on biotechnology that is of direct use in combat, an area with high demand and plentiful opportunity for profit. "The benefits could mean the difference between the loss of Capital equipment and securing the Battlefield on which you will fight," stated the press release.

Much like the infamous Virge Salvador Sarpati, combat boosters are a unique offshoot of their family. Quite separate from the original prototype neural boosters that were supposed to aid a pilot's cognitive ability, they instead work in various ways that are beneficial in combat situations. The Exile booster for example, now in production enhances a pilot's effectiveness with armour repairers. The negative side to this temporary enhancement is a prolonged downtime consisting of hypertension, aggression and periods of extreme rage. Despite this the boosters are nonetheless in high demand for important conflicts, particularly when large and expensive capital fleets are deployed.

Their overall aim is above and beyond just combat enhancement boosters however, with alliance executor Joshua Foiritain stating: "Our ultimate objective is to produce neural boosters capable of boosting someone's ability to learn, the combat boosters are simply a step stone along the way; through the more advanced boosters, we are hoping to help mankind advance to the next level.

The Corelum Syndicate itself has been a longstanding and vocal exponent of continued booster research and production, ever since its formation and earlier days in the Curse region when it shifted allegiances to the Serpentis Corporation and left a Federation that has banned such endeavours. We've been working with the Serpentis Corporation for over a year now, which helped us a great deal with getting into the booster research in the first place," commented Mr. Foiritain.

At the same time as Corelum's production begins, a second organisation has entered the market, albeit in a slightly more reserved manner more suited to its own philosophies. Hedonistic Imperatives has also begun booster production, but rather than openly defying the empire bans, has chosen to largely stay under their radar, letting a reputation of quiet and reliable achievement do most of their publicity for them. "We just don't like to advertise as much as some, us Thukkers prefer to keep things word of mouth in a lot of cases," stated Camperific, a Hedonistic Imperative liaison for the tribe.

There are notable differences between the two organisations. Corelum has evolved into an overtly anti-Federation Serpentis ally, whilst the Imperative is less easily definable, with a broader scope involving narcotics, smuggling and other lucrative underworld profiteering. Whilst Corelum seeks long-term benefits in the neural booster field, the Imperative is focused on philosophies closer to their roots.

Commenting on their varied inspirations, CEO of Es and Whiz, Masu'di stated: "To allow people to expand their mind through the exploration of altered states has always been a priority. We are not just station corner pushers, although I wouldn't go as far as saying we are uplifting humanity." On other points the two entities share more common ground, such as distaste for the current empire bans on booster production. "Prohibition is not really a good solution to anything," Masu'di remarked.

Commenting on the current bans in the empires, one Gallente Federation scientist who wished to remain anonymous remarked: I'm not sure how we can accurately call ourselves progressive as a nation, when we drive out entities like Coreli, I think the title of their recent announcement was more than just a play on words. They were adamant supporters of the Federation once, and now they are in bed with Serpentis. I'm not sure Federation policy on Booster research isn't at least partially to blame, they certainly seem to hold it in low regard."

It is still uncertain whether or not the empires will relax their policies on booster research now that the capsuleers of the frontier have forged ahead on their own path without them. If the fear of being left behind the technological curve militarily has no effect on innovation and policy, perhaps the harsh financial truths of diversified profits will. Perhaps it is already beginning to be too late, or as the Coreli Corporation often says: "Welcome to the future."

Heir speaks out on succession as debate continues

Last month witnessed an unprecedented request from Amarrian capsuleers that they be informed as to the progress of the investigation into the assassination of Emperor Doriam. Despite serving as a severe breach of protocol, the request sparked fervent academic debate within the Empire regarding the next Succession championships and what form they will take.

While no outright dissent has been aired on the issue, it is no secret that the people of the Empire are growing impatient with the wait for a new Emperor. In an announcement late last week, Uriam Kador endorsed the ongoing debate by making his opinions known publicly. Here is an excerpt from his statement:

"For too long has our Empire languished without an Emperor. It is due time that we, the Heirs, decide how the next Championships shall be held, lest we incur God’s wrath for our Chamberlain’s apparent lack of will to move forward."

"I move that the Championship not be fought in the barren byways of the infinite, but rather here on God’s earth, by those of pure flesh. We should look not to those who cheat death by shedding and donning bodies like discarded rags, for who can tell what happens to the soul through its endless leapfrogging from body to body?"

"We should look to true Amarrians, the chosen people of God, barren of the impurities of their spacebound kin."

Dr. Emuil Zalaveille, political analyst at the University of Caille and an expert on Amarrian affairs, regarded the speech as just the latest in a series of affronts to Chamberlain Dokuta Karsoth’s authority.

"His [the Chamberlain’s] position has been growing ever weaker in the last months," said Dr. Zalaveille. "With the murder investigation yielding no apparent answers and the Navy all but directly disobeying his commands to police the Bleak Lands, the addition of a royal Heir’s accusation of laxness in the matter of the succession comes as no surprise."

Bidding War heats up for Military Development Corp

Innovaatio Varustukset, a small independent military development company, has found itself at the centre of an intense bidding war between the Caldari MegaCorps.

The corporation, founded a decade ago by current CEO Markku Samuli, is unusual amongst Caldari entities in that it is entirely privately owned and run, without any connection to the larger Caldari MegaCorps. Whilst such approaches are traditionally a disadvantage in the ruthless economic battlegrounds of the State, the company's innovative and unorthodox work environment, along with the hard work of Samuli himself, has allowed the corporation to flourish and earn a reputation many times it’s size.

Much of Innovaatio's success stems from several development contracts with the Caldari Navy, allowing the corporation to turn a sizeable profit at a time of economic recession in the majority of the State. This, along with rumours of cutting edge research in several sectors, has spurred the MegaCorps into a vicious bidding war for the company.
Ishukone, Lai Dai and Nugoeihuvi are believed to be making the front running in the current round of bids.

"It's a dream come true," said Samuli at the press conference announcing the impending sale. "I started this company with hopes of earning enough to send my children to a good school. Now, I'll be able to send my children's children's children to a good school as well."

Samuli declined to comment on an exact figure of the amount of ISK being offered, but estimates place the worth of the company at over 50 billion ISK in raw assets alone. Analysts expect the bids are entering the area of 400 billion ISK, a sizeable amount for a corporation the size of Innovaatio Varustukset, with a final total that many observers believe will exceed this easily.

"Every time one number gets sent in, someone else sends in a bigger number," Samuli said. "I can't imagine the bidding will continue for much longer. Eventually, someone will offer a number I don't think can be topped."

Some parties are questioning the size of the bids, however. "The company has succeeded thus far by being apart from the MegaCorp structure," said Hugues Jasmin, a Gallente analyst who has focused his research on the economics of the Caldari State. "The MegaCorps are unlikely to maintain the talent, atmosphere, and work environment that has allowed Innovaatio Varustukset to thrive. They're taking a huge risk."

Most analysts, nonetheless, dismiss such worries. "With the weight of a Lai Dai or Ishukone behind it, the company can focus more on the research and less on the economic and administrative," said Sindri Hinrik, head of the Economics department at Science and Trade Institute. "It should be mutually beneficial to everyone involved."

Insiders expect a deal to be announced within the next week which prompted shares in the company to rise 11% in 24 hours.

ISS Launches Caravan Fleet

The Interstellar Starbase Syndicate has launched the first of its Caravan fleets on March 25, marking a new chapter in their history of innovation and zero-sec pioneering. The Carrier-led fleets will journey out to the recently uncovered regions, where they will conduct personal trades, as well as seed the markets with goods.

Since the loss of their outposts, the future of the ISS had been somewhat uncertain, beyond general statements that they would continue to push for innovative approaches to zero-sec marketing and economisation. With their plans to use carriers en masse as part of a new frontier marketing tool, they continue to use unique approaches that exemplify the alliance’s signature ability, a willingness to explore new methods.

“The goal of the Caravan Fleet is to help seed deep space with the tools of civilisation, to teach the frontier a lesson in trade and commerce,” stated the leader of the ISS, Count TaSessine. “Before, we were bound to the outposts. Today, we’re the same, our goals and visions remain, but we have escaped the sedentary and isolated existence of the caretaker.”

Continuing his explanation of the modus operandi of the caravan fleet, Count TaSessine stated: “We will head into deep space and start trading with people there. We will seed markets with goods, and trade directly from our carriers in space…all we need we carry with us…people approach the caravan fleet, we trade directly in space…the entire alliance will remain mobile and on the move for 1-2 weeks.” ISS will have no home system, no stations to claim as their own as they roam the stars.

The economisation of frontier markets is not the only motivation behind the recent refocus, with Count stating: “We entertain close links with the Zainou Biotech Corporation…one secondary mission with the Caravan Fleet is to help [them] start booster production.” This secondary goal represents the recent announcement on Galnet by the Count that the ISS also seeks the favour of the Caldari State, setting itself the lofty aim of becoming ‘the ninth of the great Caldari corporations’.

The ISS plans to continue to promote itself in Caldari circles by pushing onwards and pioneering market initiatives amongst capsuleers. “The investment portfolio is working towards this goal, as is the alliance. We’re always prepared to spend venture capital on bold Caldari-based business initiatives,” added Count TaSessine.

The success of this first venture remains to be seen. With billions of ISK invested already however, there is certainly pressure on the ISS to deliver to its shareholders as it has done in the past. The mood within the alliance appears to be upbeat despite recent setbacks, and it is expected that one of the leading economic powerhouses of the capsuleer community will return themselves to the status they once occupied, perhaps this time also raising the attention of the Caldari State itself as well.

If this nomadic economic system prevails, what chance other pod pilots try something similar? Is it possible to be a Megacorporation without being tied to an outpost? Much hard work and lessons lie ahead however, and the perils and pitfalls of non-Empire trading will continue to provide much cause for discourse on media outlets.

Speaker of Truths appears at Liparer II

Seconds before the largest settlements on Lipairer II was to be incinerated by the lasers of the Kor-Azor fleet, a Speaker of Truths appeared and demanded they hold their fire.

Last week had seen the escalation of events on Liparer II with the Holders rising in near-rebellion against the rule of House Kor-Azor. The House's representative promptly gave a deadline for submission, adding that it would otherwise send a fleet to “completely obliterate all resistance”. As the Holders did not stand down, a fleet was dispatched to destroy the estates. It was then that a Speaker of Truths intervened.

The Speaker of Truths, known as Brother Joshua, asked that the Admiral in charge returned to Kor Azor so that the Speaker could arbitrate between the two parties involved in the Liparer crisis. Furthermore, Brother Joshua announced that he would be traveling through the Kor-Azor region to investigate the situation, speaking to Holder and commoner alike. It is very rare for a Speaker of Truths to appear in such a fashion, and this is the first such occurrence for nearly a century, has been the subject of great surprise and speculation.

When asked about the situation, the Theology Council responded, “When approached by the Speakers of Truth for permission to investigate the allegations stemming from the Kor-Azor region, we duly gave it. We wish Brother Joshua Godspeed on his mission.”

As a reporter inquired after the recent allegations of attacks upon the Theology Council, and any links these attacks might have to Kor-Azor, the Theology council refused to comment, stating only that “our investigations are continuing.”

The consensus on GalNet is that the arrival of the Speaker of Truths is a ´welcome development´ and that overall the people are hopeful the situation will be solved without bloodshed.

Independence "nothing to worry about" say analysts.

Recent figures compiled by CONCORD statisticians have shown that despite the ever-increasing trend towards total capsuleer independence, the four Empires will still have a large core of loyal and capable supporters. The reports confirm a growing trend of support amongst the space bound class, and points towards an increasingly relaxed stance from all factions towards their rising independence.

Just one example out of many is Siri Blue, a Gallente who has joined an elite group of capsuleers held in the highest possible regard by the Federation. Speaking in an interview with the Interstellar Correspondents, she shared her own perspectives on the loyalties of a pod pilot and the unique work it brings.

“While the Caldari claim to be the hardest working race in Eve, I dare to say otherwise,” she stated wryly, “it's a lot of hard work.” Speaking about the process of winning the trust of the Empire corporations, she stated: “I started my career off in the Federation Navy and slowly worked up the ranks. After an uncountable number of missions, skirmishes and engagements with pirate gangs and rogue Caldari fleets, I managed to gain enough reputation and money to move somewhat higher in the hierarchy.”

Since that time, Ms. Blue has worked for other Gallente corporations, including the Federal Intelligence Office and Duvolle Laboratories, the latter of which she has most recently pledged a stronger loyalty to, as CEO of the corporation Blue Division, a capsuleer-based subsidiary. She has also spent time working for the longstanding pro-Federation faction, the Servant Sisters of Eve.

Ms. Blue represents just one of many thousands of loyal capsuleers, who typically spend a large majority, if not all their time serving Faction's corporations. Analysts involved in the report stated that the entities had little to worry about, despite the increasing amount of capsuleers going completely independent: “As long as the current concomitant rise in Empire-based capsuleers continues, then the needs of the Empires that spawned them will continue to be met as well.”

Ms. Blue herself stated that in fact, she felt a distinct lack of high-level work at times, reflecting a broader desire amongst the upper crust of the capsuleer elite for new challenges and responsibilities. “If there was the opportunity to prove my value to the Federation, I’d try my best that very moment…although the Federation is a rather peaceful place...it’s hard to find real challenges. I feel that the Federation Navy should start opening up the…ranks for their capsuleer pilots, it is obvious that [we] can achieve far more than normally crewed ships. Not using the abilities of their capsuleer agents to their full extent is a waste of resources and will possibly be a grave mistake should it come to a new war with the Caldari State.”

Whether or not the Empires eventually follow the advice of Ms. Blue and others like her remains to be seen. What is certain however is that in the meantime, they will still have plenty of work for freelance capsuleers, loyal combatants and traders alike, and will seek to further extend their influence over the capsuleer class as more and more pilots graduate.

Kor-Azor situation escalates on Liparer II

The Kor-Azor region continues to be the site of unrest, exemplified this week by the situation on Liparer II.

The debacle began when Holder Keraci was overheard by visiting Kor-Azor courtiers as he told his wife that Aritcio Kor-Azor is ‘‘not fit to be Heir and belongs in a damn mental institution for his new regulations and sanctions.’’

When Aritcio heard word of what was being said on Liparer II he ordered that every Holder and his family on the planet would be stripped of his fine robes and dressed in rags of the lowest slave. A spokesperson for the Kor-Azor house commented ‘‘How dare they talk about their lord sovereign this way? Such manner of treasonous speech shall not be tolerated. As punishment for such heinous talk they will henceforth live like slaves until such a time as our Lord Kor-Azor considers that they have paid for their crimes. These holders should consider themselves beneficent that their lord has chosen to be so merciful.’’

The robes, sent to every Holder and his family, reek of unwashed slaves and have blood splatter and other unidentified substances on them. Aritcio was reported as stating ‘‘What do they expect? That I send clothes smelling fresh and ironed? I ordered my men to find the dirtiest slave and bludgeon their heads in and take their clothes. They shall wear those and nothing else.’’

The Holders refused the royal decree, resulting in Aritcio declaring the whole planet treasonous, ordering his military forces in and demanding all the holders' heads to be returned to him. The planet is currently under military blockade and there has been report of heavy fighting on the surface.

Reports have also been filtering in on sightings of a Speaker of Truths in the borderlands of Kor-Azor space. Aritcio's representatives have judged this as mere hearsay, for a Speaker has not been seen outside a monastery for centuries. Nevertheless, the representatives continue their investigation into the Speaker's appearance

Mysterious Death linked to Drug scarcity

PLACID: The gruesome discovery of the body of a man identified as Bevarius Qolemar has been made in Osmeden, baffling investigators with the severity of injuries suffered showing signs of torture and alleged links to organised crime.

The grisly remains of the victim, whom had been missing for a week were found in his quarters and whilst the exact cause of death is still under question, it has been reported that he was tortured over an extended period of time.

Station security stated that they had found the body after being informed that there had been no sign of the victim and numerous attempts to contact him went unanswered.

A spokesman for the station said: “We were not expecting this, we simply thought he had left without anyone knowing. Given that he was receiving numerous messages from various locations in Syndicate and his involvement in the drug trafficking group ‘Euphoric Gaze’, we have no doubt that his death is connected to the criminal elements of the area.”

Attempts to contact other members of the victim’s organisation have also been unsuccessful; however, a review of the last transmissions Qolemar sent shows that he was planning to flee to Syndicate, from Idatheth Khora.
Who or what Idatheth Khora is remains a mystery at this time.

Many observers believe that this murder is directly responsible for the drastic reduction in the production and distribution of Rise, a powerful narcotic, created by Sundari Idama who employed the deceased. Due to this shortage, many users have begun to suffer withdrawal symptoms, which include severe depression, and suicidal tendencies.
Vorada Kuvakei, former Mordu Legion officer and now head of the Intaki organisation, Illoren, was asked about these incidents but only commented that the death of Qolemar was ‘needlessly brutal’ and that ‘the decline of the drug Rise, is but the first step in Placid’s recovery, and the growth and empowerment of the Intaki people’.

Due to the lack of Federation and CONCORD presence in this investigation, the Intaki Space Police have been in full control of the situation. The Syndicate itself has not given any sort of official statement on these events; however a source, who wishes to remain anonymous, claimed that when news broke of the murder, several members of the Syndicate retired to their quarters claiming illness.
While CONCORD presence has been non-existent during the investigation, they have issued a brief statement on the drug known as Rise.
It reads: “We have received various inquiries and comments about this new drug that has surfaced in Placid. We are continuing to gather samples of the drug when possible, our initial tests have shown this drug to be highly dangerous to those who use it, with the risk of overdose being nearly triple that of any current narcotic.”

“Given these dangers, it has been decided that the substance is to be outlawed and ask that citizens please inform local enforcement agencies of any use or trafficking of the dangerous substance. Those who have created this drug will cease their activities immediately, or face prosecution,” concluded CONCORD.

Whether or not this is sees an end to production of Rise or is just a blip in Idama and others’ plans, remains to be seen.

Karishal's Defiance ended

PROVIDENCE – The war between Ushra’Khan and Curatores Veritatis Alliance took a new turn on Wednesday, and continues unabated with CVA taking control of the station system QR-K85 earlier.

CVA had declared war on Imperial Order following a succession of incidents in the former's space that led IO to join forces with U'K but this appeared not enough to stem the tide.

The initial target of the CVA and its allies appeared to be more of a strike at morale rather than a tactical push, with their initial focus on capturing the outpost home to the remains of the deceased leader of The Defiants, Karishal Muritor. The Outpost was named “Karishal’s Defiance” as a mark of tribute to the fallen leader.

Fighting was fierce between the two sides with PIE Inc, Aegis Militia and Vigilia Valeria joining CVA on their offensive. U’K started to lose ground despite the help of the Imperial Order, Electus Matari, Fimbulwinter, Chaos Incarnate and The Star Fraction in defending the system.

According to observers, U’K had been asking for help from numerous entities and received assistance from a variety of forces including EM, CI, Namtz'aar K'in, the Littlest Hobos, IO and numerous independents including Mori Felding as well as SF.

Even with this aid, the battles continued and U’K seemed incapable of stemming the flood of CVA and its allies, with some losses considered to have been avoidable and blamed on the inexperience of young fleet commanders.

Despite accusations from both sides of the conflict that U’K were not as committed to defending their space as they should be this does not tell the whole story. The Herculean efforts of EveJoker did not go unnoticed by combatants and one of the few times that he took a break from proceedings led to erroneous reports that SF were in control of the defences. He was ably assisted in the fight by Aequitas Harbinger of IO and Algey of the Littlest Hobos but their tactical nous was not enough to beat back the advancing horde.

News just in indicates that the QR-K85 Outpost “Karishal’s Defiance” was captured and renamed to “Karishal’s Folly”, by Amarrian paramilitary forces earlier on Wednesday.
This could lead to a huge upswing in the conflict with Amarr forces attacking what they percieve to be terrorists, whilst at the same time looking to protect their commercial interests. Regardless, Ushra'Khan desperately need to defend their nearby systems which are now under threat.

As a result of recent developments, "The Voices of Matar' held a protest rally against the current government of the Republic. The rally, which took place in Lustrivek V – Republic Justice Department Law School, threatened to spill over into violence.
A report on the rally is forthcoming.

Republic unrest continues, Bloody Hands support grows.

Matar - “One ISK for Midular” said many of the banners at a large protest rally held today. Local police forces estimated the attendance at around two million people, who packed the main promenade of Matar Prime. The protest, organized by political newcomer “Voices of Matar” party, coincided with marches all across the Republic as the government faces ever-growing anger and disillusionment.

The Republic, already under fire for its heavy-handed handling of past protests, responded by stating that it respected the views and opinions displayed at these rallies, and that while it was quite happy for its citizens to enjoy their freedom of speech, it urged the protesters to remain peaceful. The government spokesman took the opportunity to remind attendant press that the numbers at these protests only constituted a relative minority.

The Bloody Hands of Matar, the subject of hot controversy due to their recent violent actions at the Dober Harn riots, have witnessed a swelling of their ranks as dissatisfaction grows. It seems that what once started as a simple ideal and symbol has begun to form into a far more serious movement. Countless newcomers to The Bloody Hands' cause have cited the deep frustration they feel at the perceived callousness of the government's handling of Captain Muritor and of its blatant dismissal of the recent riots and other protests.

Their support from the Ushra'Khan alliance, one that they claimed to model themselves on, has been less apparent. Following the interment of Captain Muritor's body last week, Tar Kovsky stated, “We understand the frustration of groups like The Bloody Hands of Matar, which makes it hard for us to condemn their mistakes. Our people need hope, though, and not continued frustration. If the youth would take a more active role in tribal politics, they might find the solution there…we don't think that attacking the planetary police will accomplish much other than turning people against them”.

While certain Minmatar capsuleer groups such as Namtz'aar k'in have echoed Mr. Kovsky's sentiments, others have stepped forward and praised the Hands' defiance. "The Ushra'Khan need to take a long, hard look at themselves before they decide to comment on other terrorist groups," an unnamed source stated.

Already the images of angry young Matari protesters have defined the rising wave of impatience, and now, with their faces covered in blood-red handprints, they are becoming one of many indicators of a growing momentum behind the Bloody Hands.

M.Corp Leaves Lotka Volterra

Velios, CEO of M.Corp and former executor corporation of the Lotka Volterra (LV) alliance has released a statement announcing their withdrawal from LV due to the war's toll on M.Corp.

Lotka Volterra's history stretches back 15 months ago when M.Corp, along with the corporations Shinra and UKC, carved out a slice of space in the Tenerifis region after a short but fierce engagement with Red Alliance, the two entities sharing significant Eve history with one another.

Their initial plans were to build an empire. Build they did, claiming many systems and constructing stations that still exist to this day, with a strong market in the constellations and systems they claimed. However, they faced a resolute enemy in the form of RA and were never able to completely vanquish their nemesis. A fact that returned to haunt them with the arrival of reinforcements in the guise of Goonswarm.

Velios stated: "It could be said that we created such a magnificent domain, that it drew envious eyes in our direction. All too quickly it seems, Lotka Volterra became the focus of a wider movement to knock back the establishments of power."

He added: "The undeniable truth is that against such numbers of committed pilots in the Coalition, we were doomed."

However, Velios has no hard feelings about this, and is quick to wish "...the new occupiers of the south eastern frontier luck in the future. May they enjoy the area to its fullest extent as we have done."

Having since created the alliance M.Pire, the future of M.Corp is still not set in stone. Velios concluded: "Of course we do have plans for the future. M.Corp is too long in the tooth simply to recede into Empire anonymity! We intend that our name shall be remembered for all of the right reasons. We will grow, we will improve and we will repay debts of gratitude to our friends, and debts of vengeance to our enemies!"

Diplomatic manoeuvrings dominate conflict

NEW EDEN - Although the past week may have been on the quiet side with regards major battles, the conflict continues apace. Consolidation has been the watch word as both sides reflect upon a tumultuous opening to proceedings.

Even if the battlefield was quieter, diplomatic announcements still managed to create waves:

Mercenary Coalition takes Band of Brothers contract:

Mercenary Coalition has officially been contracted by BoB. Last Tuesday it was announced that what had prior been the subject of countless rumours, speculation and non-corroborative whispers, is now fact.

Seleene, the leader of MC stated that the reasoning was purely business, adding: "We wanted a business partner, not to be someone's backyard militia force or Special Forces. Of all the alliances I approached and spoke with at that time, only one understood our needs; even more telling, only one still exists today. That alliance is Band of Brothers."

Some capsuleers see this move as only confirming what they already believed, although if MC were to be a ‘lapdog’ they would be a highly paid one!

Seleene added: "We held out hope that some of the leaders of the ‘Coalition’ would at least attempt to see past all of the assumptions and opinions and present us with a real dilemma. Yet during this, the absolute height of a chance to possibly remove Band of Brothers from power, not one offer was made."

MC has had to deflect a great deal of criticism from people believing their neutrality was missing when dealing with BoB. However, with the universe-wide conflict getting into full swing and repeated attacks on their infrastructure, MC decided to make a public declaration as to their intentions.

The past two weeks has seen Coalition forces repeatedly making forays into MC space, including attacks on their starbases. Seleene stated his belief that there was a political motive behind the attacks, saying: "(We felt)...pushed into this a little. The incessant attacks against MC assets served no purpose other than to provoke exactly this response."

ISS surrenders to KOS:

With MC's contract with BoB adding some reinforcements to their side, the numbers opposing the Coalition dwindled after the news that Interstellar Starbase Syndicate had surrendered to Knights Of the Southerncross.

As part of the reparations, ISS gave up their starbases in C3-0YD and KW-OAM.

ISS’s plans for the future remain unknown.

War participants growing:

As the war continues to force capsuleers to pick sides, so an ever increasing number of corporations and alliances are drawn into the conflict. Striving to keep abreast of them, here are the new additions.

The changes are:

Coalition

Theology Council Investigations continue

Acol Yarwema, Chief Operative of the Theology Council, issued a statement yesterday regarding the recent attacks on Theology Council assets. He announced that the Council's ongoing investigation into the attacks, including the interrogation of two recently apprehended pilots, has confirmed earlier suspicions regarding the identity and intentions of those responsible. The statement did not name the suspected attackers.

Acol continued, “It is certain the capture of these suspects, aided by capsuleers loyal to our great Empire, will advance our investigations considerably. No doubt the true instigators of these attacks are working through third parties in an attempt to hide their involvement.”

Ashmod Chieh, spokesperson of the Kor-Azor family, released a press statement where the family condemned the attacks upon the Theology Council, judging them to be ‘’immoral and cowardly.´´ The press release further stated that the Kor-Azor family would be willing to help in the investigation or send general aid if the Council required it. The Theology Council has politely declined the aid of Kor-Azor at this time.

The statement of Kor-Azor comes at a time when the family has been widely criticized for the situation within its borders. Reports have filtered through of excessive brutality by Kor-Azor police forces. Adding to problems are several proclamations by Aritcio Kor-Azor that have been met with increasing disbelief. The most recent proclamation stated that any slaver found outside at the same time as Gaius (Aritcio's own slaver dog) would have its owner tortured to death, before its eyes, and would then be forced to eat the remains of said owner.
