They generally prefer to stay on the fringes of civilization, shying away from the poitical games and easily hurt feelings of the other tribes. They are most well known for their development of previously designed ships, and are also known for their involvement in several criminal organizations. But few outside, and even inside the tribe, actually know the history and evolution as the tribe as a whole. This lack of knowledge is in part due to the fact that, unlike the other tribes, they hold the least amount of allegiance to the tribe itself, rather, they move in sub-divisions of the tribe, known as clans. Some clans are divided even further, to houses, families, and so forth. Each of the two hundred or so clans is self-sufficient, able to make decisions independent of the others, and can often drive themselves away from the tribe. Because of these divisions, it is extremely rare for the Thukkers to become united for anything. Much of this stems from the nomadic nature of the tribe. They were the first of the tribes to leave Matar, and the Pator system, and for centuries, only made intermittant contact with the remaining tribes. Between the time of the Amarrian conquest of Matari space and the time of the Minmatar rebellion, very little is known of how they progressed as a tribe. What is known is that Thukkers were rarely enslaved, mostly due to the fact that their nature of constant movement allowed them to develop escape and evasion techniques and technology that the other tribes simply did not posess. In Amarrian society, a Thukker slave was quite an honor and a symbol of determination and cunning of the holder. However, enslavement did not treat Thukkers well. Unable to live as they had for millenia, those who were captured by the Amarr became mad or depressed, and most took their own lives, rarely living long enough for their holder to turn a profit from their capture. Even so, they were a prized posession among the Amarr, but as the Amarrian occupation of Matari lands continued, fewer and fewer Thukkers were captured or even found. Why this is cannot be told in certainty, as not even the Thukkers are completely sure what went on. Thukker history is extremely cryptic, because most of it is hidden within bed-time tales told throughout the generations, with the better part of the meaning lost in translation as the dialects developed over time. Much of Thukker language revolves around symbolism and analogy. Certain emotions are described as events that happened in the past, and these events are rarely documented in "standard" speech. During the Minmatar rebellion, some Thukkers came out of hiding to aid their brethren. Most simply helped in a passive fashion, or used covert means of helping the other tribes. However, one clan journied to Minmatar space to aid in the research and development of starships to combat the Amarrian threat. The Caitor clan assisted many of the Brutor and Sebiestor scientists heading up these projects, and were critical in developing the technologies that make many of the ships that came out of the rebellion staples of the Republic's military force today. What happened after these developments is difficult to find information on. The Caitor clan disappeared, leaving no trace of their fate or their location. No-one knows for certain what happened to them, but the very word "Caitor" in the Thukker dialect is used only as an extremely harsh word to denote betrayal or death. After the disappearance of the clan, much of the Thukker tribe retreated from their assisting points within the rebellion to the Great Wildlands region, where many remain to this day. |

Part 1 - Continued After the incident, much of the Thukker tribe participated in illegal activities, and certain records suggest that some of the founding members of the dreaded Angel Cartel were, in fact, Thukkers. Branded as traitors and criminals, the Thukkers were not invited to the parliamentary proceedings that formed the Minmatar Republic. The events that caused this change are shrouded in lies and mysteries on both sides, as the Republic maintains its stance that few Thukkers are not criminals, and the Thukker tribe's formal government refuses to comment to anyone on the issue.
While some would assume that the Thukker tribe took great offense at this gesture, it is no secret that few actually care about the well-being of the Republic, and even fewer actively assist in their operations. While Thukkers are now welcome to join such organizations as the Republic Fleet or Pator Tech school, so long as they do not have a criminal history, most who actually apply are denied, and those who are accepted usually are not promoted as fast as their counterparts in the tribes that the Republic respects more. |

Times like this you wish there was a CCP employee with a big rubber stamp running around stamping things in here with "Official." Good stuff on a branch of humanity not much described. |

Fully support the above comment. Nice stuff! You should try to submit it as a chronicle (send it to story@eve-aurora.com) |

Thanks! There's more to come, I've got a bit chronicled in my head, and I just need to touch up on my second installment. =) |

There are only a handful of minor traits that may set them apart from the other tribes. The word "may" is used, because they are simply traits that are common to many Thukkers, not all. In general, they are shorter than the other tribes. Along with this, they are generally more slender, and most have a slight reddish skin tone to them. Most simply resemble shorter, darker versions of members of the other tribes, making it somewhat easy for them to blend in to colonies in Republic space. This, unlike many parts of the tribe's history, can be explained to a degree. Because of their nature as a nomadic people, throughout the millenia they have come in contact with many members belonging to the other tribes. Certain clans have interbreeded with these members, which can also explain the strength of a clan's bond over that of a tribe. Take, for instance, the Vhreroc and Libest clans. While both are distinctly Thukker in their behavior and language, they have extreme differences in their physical appearance. The Vhreroc are stalkier than most Thukker clans, and have a darker tone of skin, which could easily lead one to assume that somewhere in their travels, they met and bred with members of the Brutor or Starkmanir tribes. The Libest, on the other hand, are the most slender of all the clans, and have the most pale skin color. At first glance, and even with some examination, a Libest could easily be mistaken for a shorter member of the Sebiestor Tribe. These genetic and experiencial differences are no doubt part of the reason Thukkers identify more with those in their clan than those in their tribe. Humans have a tendancy to bond with those who look, sound, and have had experiences like them, and although historically, all Thukkers come from the same gene pool, in one way or another, experience, galactic travel, and interbreeding have separated clan from clan, and most cannot relate to the subdued strand that connects them all. Ironically, Thukkers do seem united about one thing regarding their own genetics. They are the only major faction in the empires that has not made genetic engineering any part of their society. This may be due, in part, to the fact that they are not united about much, but it is one issue that the Thukker tribe's formal government has taken a side on. Rhediv Motsahush, the tribe's formal ambassador to the Minmatar Republic, stated in a rare press release three years ago, "It is the difficulties we face as humans that cause us to strive to become better. If we deny our children of these 'problems,' there will be no need to improve, and they will decay, and the entire human race will fade into oblivion, a mere scar on the galaxy we have populated." Most agree that the Thukkers are firm in their belief about genetic engineering, but some skeptics who have actually studied the tribe contest that their procreational history is effectively a primitive method of genetic engineering. Some clans have mating rituals, where the strongest man will be paired with the strongest woman, giving their offspring a greater chance of becoming even stronger. However, it is a crude method compared to modern genetics, and in all reality, does not deserve the title "genetic engineering." Simply, it can be boiled down to the pure instinctive nature of humans, which many races and bloodlines have simply shunned as barbarism. But even with some of the contoversy and mystery behind the Thukker tribe, few can denounce their abilities and strengths. A paradox, of sorts, they rarely agree on anything, yet even with these attitudes, have accomplished more than some bloodlines could ever dream of. |

Good writing, nice ideas but not PF-proof.
Thukker were enslaved en-masse like the other tribes, even lost their Elder. They're also talked about as being not very tribal at all, mostly due to losing their Elder.
