If your EVE is crashing for no reason, not connecting, or just being plain wierd after a patch, it might be time to clear your EVE cache. The EVE cache is a folder keeping hold of all the little details in EVE (like portraits, small images, and the like).

This file deletes all the files in the cache folder, and gives you an option to delete the settings folder and the preferences file.

To use it, stick this in your EVE directory, and double click it. It will prompt you clear the Settings folder and preferences file, then tell you to press any key at the end, and finally - run EVE for you.

NOTE:
Deleting the Settings folder will delete some client side settings like bookmark folders (in most cases, there is no need to delete anything in here).
Deleting the Preferences file will delete the client settings (ie, display settings, volume, etc). Try this if you're having connection issues.

Download Cache Clear.

You can check the code of this simply by right clicking on the file and selecting EDIT. The file will open in notepad and you can check the commands used in there.

Shockedthat looks so simple, even I can do that.

Still a great help for those who are too lazy to do it themselves Very Happy

This is just for players who don't know how to do it, or are a bit confused by it.

Maybe an nice option to add backuping to it aswell (just for settings and prefs.ini folder if you choose to remove them).

Might use the one click winrar backup shell for it to integrate that functionality (you can find it here).

These tools are always great especially when they make it so easy.

EDIT: added link to possible backup method for this tool

main requirement would be for a housekeeping facility to delete the junk folders containing stuff produced on a daily basis such as error reports and particularly logs which will eat your harddrive as 1 is generated every jump and never deleted as ccp assume you will replace your pc before this becomes a problem.

Indeed a great suggestion especially it's the easy things that got forgotten the most but those keep "bugging" your computer meanwhile.
The logs are in /eve/capture/gamelogs

Best would be to give as less options as possible so the user doesn't get confused to much.

Additionally i will try makeing an script like this myself with the options or an small program.

EDIT: i made the program (there is an backup button but it doesn't backup yet so it is disabled).
You can get the program here

The usage is very simple, just unzip the program and after that run it and locate your eve installation directory (it will run an file check to see if you selected the right directory and unlock the button + checkboxes).
After selecting the checkboxes it will just do it when you press the button so be carefull when you use it.

Feedback on this tool would be nice.
