These rigs are among the least useful in the game and in my opinion they deserve a boost. I've done a bit of testing, and I've found that over the course of the vast majority of jumps (less than 50 AU) the time saved by fitting a full rack of these is of the order of 1 second against an intial time of about 35 seconds. For this privilege you pay not only the the cost of the rig itself but also the cost of not fitting a better rig that might have given you 15% more capacitor output or powergrid.
The time taken to reach maximum warp (once the warp drive is active) seems to be unaffected by these rigs; in my tests it came to 12 seconds either way. Assuming that v(t) = [1-exp(-kt)]*Vmax for some constant k (as for sub-warp speeds), then this means that the velocity-time graph is stretched vertically by fitting these rigs. However, because of the vast scale of the distances travelled, most of this increased acceleration takes place over low velocities and has very little effect on warp time.
Naturally, I suggest increasing the warp acceleration of ships that have these rigs fitted by a substantial factor; perhaps a power of 2 per rig. |

I've been having the same thought for a while and I'm in agreement with the author. I fly a Raptor as a tackleceptor on ops, and I fit a pair of T1 warp speed rigs on one so that it can haul its butt across space faster. As amusing as it is that I can do the majority of the crossing of X-70 in 10 seconds, it hasn't really made me a better tackler because I'm only shaving off a couple of seconds; I may as well fit some more mass reduction rigs so that I can align and maneuver faster. The limiting factor (especially on the fast ships where you're going to want to use these things in the first place) is the warp acceleration/deceleration of the ship. If CCP could do something about this, that would be great. |

I'm glad I'm not the only person who feels this way To clarify: each warp rig should reduce the time taken to reach maximum warp as well as increasing maximum warp. Applying the existing stats as a time reduction bonus would work quite nicely; 2 T2 rigs or 3 T1 rigs would roughly halve the time spent accelerating to maximum warp, giving them an effect that would actually be useful most of the time. |

I was talking about this ages ago to a few peeps,
of course we are not talking about the tiem it take to get from zero to wapr, we are talking about the time it takes to accelerate once warps been engadged to the full 13 au speed or whatever..
i agree, smaller ships should hit their max AU speed MUCH faster, cause ive chased drake everywhere in a system, and in a smaller system, that extra 10AU per second means nothing.
Also. those rigs would be wicked if they have a 40% bonus value or something instead... imagine landing out of warp before another inty... yumm :P
ccp, i hope you read this thread, it would make intys and dictor MUCH MUCH more interesting to play |

40% is abit too much. Dictors shouldnt even be able to warp faster then t2 blockade runners.
Otherwise...well...if to boost only the speed AU speed is gained with...then it would be lovely. |

I'm in agreement here. I've been playing with these rigs and was quite excited about them. However, they seem rather useless in the majority of systems. It would be a much welcomed change to see acceleration time increased with these as well.
I'm trying to think of negatives to this, and I can't really see any imbalance this would bring to the game. |

I agree. They could use a boost.
If a pilot is willing to use rigs on his ship just to be faster, he should notice a nice little boost. I'm not willing to myself though... I can't say no to more damage / cap / HP etc... |

There is one possible downside. Slap 3 on a BS, fill the lows with a mix of nanos and istabs, it would now do 5AU/sec and would theoretically accelerate and decelerate a heck of a lot faster. |

If they followed the standard pattern and any agility bonus was stacking nerfed, then I don't see that as being a problem. |

I agree, currently max warp speed means nothing for anything other than freighters because it takes so long to accelerate/decelerate. I regularly watch battleships warp off to a gate from my cov ops and I immediately warp to the same gate, and despite the fact that I warp more than 3 times faster than they do, I have yet to beat one to the gate.
Warp acceleration/deceleration needs sped up across the board.
