Hi Everybody,

I have created a small Google Gadget that will help you keep an eye on your training progress.
Please visit your user settings to re-enable images.
While this will not give you any plus features over the desktop skill monitors / planners (what?! you're not yet using EvEMon ?!) it's strong point is that you do not need anything installed (totally javascript / css / html based).
So are you at work and don't want / can't install EvEMon? No problems just shoot up your browser and point it to your google home page.

You may add the gadget to your google home page from here.

For those not familiar with iGoogle you should go and try it out, you can set up a bunch of feeds (there are 3-4 eve online related feeds also) and a lot of nifty gadgets... worth checking out...

----Update 08/08/2007----
Couple of points I want to update and a new release:

1-Would like to remind everyone that the gmt offset setting is optional and should be used only to correct in case your system settings are not correct

2-A compact version has been released which might be useful for dictator type CEOs Wink that would like to keep an eye on all members (oh the horror!!! what have i done?!!?!?!1one)

3-Thanks to Alynis Secar the gadget is available for Mac OS X Dashboard
Please note however that there is a dedicated dashboard gadget done by Blue Wraith which might better suite you for the dashboard. This is true also for most dashbords / side bars (google / wista) BUT it is not really the point of this tool as the main idea for it is to run in a browser where ever you are...

And the new (and the not so new) release:
EvE iMonitor is online (For some time now, and some of you already know it).

EvE iCEO is online.

These are basically extended versions of the same gadget.
EvE iMonitor contains wallet information (transactions and journal) for all characters available on the account.
EvE iCEO contains (above iMonitor) wallet information for corp (transactions and journal) for all characters available on the account. (Even none CEO, Directors may take a look as it will show you as much as much access rights you got...)

Note: These will require your strong api key!

There is known issue, sometimes you might get "Invalid data, server might be down" when loading you wallet data, this is to (hate to say it again) cacheing, normally clicking again on the wallet (or journal) will load it correctly.

And last but not least a big thanks to all my supporters and donors Shocked!

PS: all gadget sources are (and have allways been) freely awaible, so if someone wories for api key missues, please take a look and get reasured.

Latest Update here
-------------------------
Enjoy, and comments are welcome.
Tested and working so far on:
IE 7, IE 6, Firefox 1, 2, Safari, Opera

As stated, just add it as many times as many accounts you have and set up each instance to another account.
Yep, in fact there is no Character settings, it tries to find the training character on the account (so if you change to an alt, it will find the alt) and if it tried all characters and still no training char has been found you'll get a nice message about it :)

Nice little gadget mate, only one small complaint tho...it doesn't work very well under safari for some reason. When I first installed it it just gave me a blank space. So I loaded it up on my windows box and got asked for my api key, etc and now safari shows me my training details but also continually asks me for the API info. I probly haven't explained this very well but figured I'd let you know anyways Laughing

hm... got your point... problem is I have no safari...
did you close your settings panel? save button or clicking again on the edit icon should close it... also try to close the browser and open it up... but it seams to me that it's exactly there your problem :)
Is there a console in safari? if yes can you check for anny errors please?

I'll try to document myself on it, but since i don't have it, will be difficult... :(

Problem is I was not able to figure out a totally generic way on this... so best thing you can do is when not sure, just delete the gmt offset in the settings section (leave it blank) and the gadget will detect it after hitting save...

I think i see where is you problem... you are using it throuh syndication probably (you are not on the iGoogle page. correct?) in this case there is no persistency for user settings...
Let me know if I got your problem correctly, i'll try to think about it...

nah mate I'm def using iGoogle. It does save my api details but it continues to show the dialog where you input them everytime I load the iGoogle page. I've taken a screenshot so you can see what I mean
clicky

If you want to see what I mean for yourself you can download the beta version of safari for windows at http://www.apple.com/safari/download/

Great tool, the only problem is that its not getting the accuarate training time, it says I have 3hrs left for a skill when in fact I have 5hrs left (also the time offset is a tad off, I live in GMT -5 but it shows the wrong time done.....) and I think I just found a bug, if I change the GMT time offset, my training time moves accordingly, so with a GMT of -5 its 4hr and on 0 its 9hrs

(I'm using Firefox)

@Alynis Secar
Good news for you buddy! :) got it working for safari (at least windows version 3.0.2) - please take a look and let me know.

@inferno34
Hm... what happens if you do not fill in the GMT offset?
  • just hit edit settings (small icon top right) should open settings panel

  • delete the GMT offset (leave it blank)

  • hit save (GMT offset will be automatically calculated based on your computer settings)

Let me know the results :)

@Solid Reaver doh spelling ftl :( and in plus a mate of mine already told me about that fault...

@RaTTuS
Gave it a though, and best thing I can tell you is let the offset blank so it will be taken automatically from your system settings (so when you go back to gmt +0) it will adjust by itself.

Also updated OP with confirmed browsers, if it works for you on something else let me know...

----
Edit: please note that there is some cacheing on google part, so you might not see the changes right away (think is up to 1 hour)

Awesome! ...perfect for a start up page everytime you load up firefox.

If I press my characters name I get a link to "http://myeve.eve-online.com/character/xml.asp?characterID=XXXXXXXX" though the api-key and the user ID is NOT in the link. Error message "This is not your character" is displayed due to that.

I think you can read between lines Shocked

Well I've been trying to read about it as much and seams there are 2 way to go.
Let's try the simpler one first.
If you are kind enough please add this Google Gadget Widget to your dashbord (i hope i got it right and you can actually do this...)

Then come the more difficult part where you need to provide the script src (first option / field on the new thingy)
here you need to add: http://gmodules.com/ig/ifr?url=http://hnam.dev.googlepages.com/hnameveskill.xml
&up_userID=youruserid&up_apiKey=yourapikey&up_charId=
&up_gmtOffset=&synd=open&w=320&h=120&title=EvE+Training+Monitor&border=
%23ffffff%7C3px%2C1px+solid+%23999999&output=js

All this on one line! I broke it down not to screw up the forum... so you'd have to copy paste it to notepad or something (dunno on Mac :p ) make all this one line and don't forget to substitute youruserid and yourapikey in the link....

well what to say? Am curious, and thanks in advance!

If you log in to eve online by going to my character (on the left) and you are using cookies (as in next time you click on my character you don't need to log in) the xml should come ok... and you actually don't need the api key there as this is the old xml data (still accessible on my character sheet -> xml data)

This is awesome, Thanks for making it. Got three Characters ticking over across the page.

Also find that it can monitor a character that is still training after account deactivation. I set a long skill before allowing the account to lapse.

Here is the result of a search for other modules related to Eve. As far as I can see this is by far the most useful.
