It would be nice with a cruiser sized module to hold rockets equivalent to the assault launcher used with light missiles.
The assault launcher has 20% higher RoF and 50% more capacity compared to a standard launcher so a light assault launcher should have the following stats:
Light Assault Launcher I
3.2s RoF 0.225m3 capacity (45 rockets)
Light Assault Launcher II
2.56s RoF 0.3m3 capacity (60 rockets)
So why would we have a module like this, well it would be great as a defense against drones/frigs/missiles(with defenders). As the range of rockets are somewhat limited it will not be very good as an offensive module, not to mention quite bad dps compared to other cruiser sized weapons.
Defender FoF
Simply what it say on the lid, Defender missiles that will try to destroy any incoming or outgoing missile within range without the need of a target lock. This should make it possible to set up some nice anti missile point defences by having caracals/drakes fitted with the launchers above and lots of Defender FoFs in the cargoholds. |

Maybe I missed a change along the way, but I'm pretty sure Defenders already behave like FoF missiles. They do not require a lock to use. The problem is, like FoF missiles, they will not reacquire a new target, if the one they are going for is destroyed. |

At the moment defenders will only shoot at incoming missiles to you, not anyone else. The difference with the defender FoF is that they would target any missile regardless who they are aimed for generating a "shield" for a gang.
To make it one step further you could have them target drones as well. They are after all an anti weapon weapon. |

I agree in making the idea of defenders useful. Since missiles don't have any counter, devs should work a bit in defenders to make them usable. Maybe a defender specialized ship would be cool too :) |

Missiles have a counter just as turrets do: velocity and size. The smaller and faster you are, the less damage you'll receive. |

Really quick, you do realize that if your in a fast ship, you can out run missiles. Its actually a very cool site to watch. And happened in one of the tournament matches (can't remember which it was but yeah) So unlike turrets that, are instant damage, missiles have the flaw of being out run. |

defenders need better fof abilities, fof missiles will attack someone who is not directly agression you, but is agressing one of your gangmates. Defenders as they currently are will only engange missles that are aimed at you, the defenders need to be changed to intercept missles aimed at friendly targets as well. It should be easy to program as npc defenders already act in this manner. |

Really? I never noticed that in my 9km/s Vagabond.  However have you ever tried flying a fast turret ship and actually hit something? Not to mention you can't hit a fast moving ship with turrets either except for every 100th shot that is a wrecking. Most ships in EVE are not nano fitted so will fly slower than the explosive velocity of missiles anyway. The current defender missiles were probably designed to fill the same role as tracking disruptors do, unfortuantely they can't be used to help out a gang mate in trouble. Any comments on the Light Assault Luncher idea btw? |

its just a slightly more missile-y rocket launcher, which serves no puropose other than distract CCP from fixing things (edit: and to challenge my spelling ability) like defenders and HAM's. also, its near impossible to dodge a torp in a bs unless you are nano fitted but if a turret bs doesn't have a webifier GG to hitting anything ever. </exageration> |
