Sucks monkeyballs. Whoever came up with this idea needs to be shot, quartered, deficated upon and shot again.

That is all.

Oh no!! It actually takes some skill AGAIN to use probes! /emoragequit

If you think this is hard, ask me how we used to do it back in 2003!

Nothing to do with scanning other ships atm. It's a stupid system, not intuitive at all.

The concept is solid and rather more enjoyable than the old one. It just needs a few more graphical tweaks to make it perfect :)

Ten times better than before. No more warping all round the system dropping probes and no more having to create bookmarks for those hard to scan spots.

Once you get the hang of it, its sooo easy and my scan time is now about 6 secs compared to 140 secs. Much better CCP, nice one !!

At what point was the other system 'intuitive'?

Hahahah ...

New system rocks. Makes sense, easy to pick up, solid and understandable. Much worse, the skills actually make sense.

I'd rather go back to before probes worked, than to the second generation system.

anyone else feeling let down by the wasted training time... I lost my signal aqu lvl4 and it was replaced by a lvl1...and now all the other wasted time on astrometrics lvl4 wehn i dont see my self using 4 probes out again

I logged in, loaded probes, and scanned a site in under 5 minutes. Guess its just you.

No more warping around, mass props for this.
Scooping probes. Win.

-
Slower to do the quick scan for logoffskis.

? better/worse ?
Faster, much much faster site probing.
Faster, much much faster ship probing (if they are very close, or very far, from your probes, and don't log off)

I havn't decided yet, I love it and hate it same time.

Signal aquisition changed to Astrometric triangulation. I presume the lvl would stay the same...

AHHH I breezed right over that skill some how I stand corrected. It's nott hat i don't like the new system its just it seemes to friendly to people with litle time invested into skills to use it. Unlike the last system If you didnt have astro 4 you where gona have a hell of a time finding a site. or the other skills and a sisters to cut down that awsome 10 minute fun!...I'll give it a chance in the up comming days...but i still feel like now any old joe blow can pick it up and take what the veterans worked hard for in the past.

As I understand it - from a completely unverified forum soucre ;) - if you don't have the skills (high enough scan strength) you simply will not be able to pinpoint the harder sites.

That was my experience too. Probed about 30 different high-sec sites today testing out the system and one of them just wouldn't go above 98.7% regardless of how carefully I positioned the probes. There's definitely still varying degrees of difficulty on sites.

Finding the most difficult sites is even more skill-dependent than before -- in the old system, you had at least some nonzero chance to hit the site regardless of how bad your skills were, so if you had superhuman patience, you could get it. New system, you're just SOL if you lack sufficient strength to probe the site to 100%.

This is True, it was discussed in the testing weeks in Game Design. The most difficult sites require high skills, good equipment and ship bonuses to lock down. Which is how it should be. You dont expect to do a level 4 mission in a T1 frigate with 1M SP.

Probing just became a mini profession

Having been here for 5 years, I get that feeling all the time. Maybe they should make a new server if/when Eve gets out of beta. And give people 5 years free playtime for the beta-testing we've been doing that long.

the new probing system rewards actual player knowledge over the skill to the point a smarter player can outscanned even if out skilled mechanics wise.

Sorry boys, I agree a bit with Dotard here. The interface is clunky, its hardly THAT intuitive, and the toss in of 'deviation' is just one last nut cruncher. When they fix the interface maybe it will be better. How long did it take for them to get around to fixing the rest of the interface again?

The interface is fine. When I loaded up the expansion, I didn't even know we were getting a new probing system (having been out of the loop for a while). Figured it out no problem (though having done POS deployments helped).

Moving probes around can be a little tricky when there are a lot on screen near each other, so there is room for improvement, but going from the pathetically basic interface we had before to this is very impressive. And the mechanics underlying it are fantastic too, true quadrilateration. And again, going from ******ed chance based to such a realistic system in one big step is impressive.
