Yo

I’m not the sharpest tool in the box. I’ve never denied it.

And this sovereignty mechanics stuff is hard. So I’m asking for help.

There’s this new alliance. Band of Brother Reloaded. Yeah, I know there’s a lot of smack talk on these boards about them, but I’ve got a serious question so I’m starting a new thread. No dumb replies please.

These guys began today. But they have sov 3 in six systems in Period Basis and three in Querious.

How’d that happen? I thought it took a bit longer than that.

Also, what happens if these guys have towers in other systems which are potentially claiming sovereignty (where other alliances currently have more towers claiming sov). Does their sov claim begin today, or is it backdated somehow?

Guys, I know we like to smack each other on these boards. Please keep that to other threads and help a confused newb understand what’s going on.

Thanks in advance.

Its because they still have the same Alliance ID and some of the information is cached.

So I will have to clear out the "cache" for the correct name to show? How do I do that coz that is just stupid.

Also will I have to do this from time to time incase other alliances gets their name changed?

Completely honest thoughts:

If Goons had released the Band of Brothers name after the "joke" was finished, possibly things would have gone through sov timers the way you are thinking here.

Are Goons wishing to rename their alliance for some good reason? Do you have merchandise, forums, events, magazine articles and such things that might need redoing? That might be tough if you do want a new name, since not only on MMO sites do we see Goons advertising for EVE but independent retail sites too.

If Goons do want to change their name though, I don't know anyone that would complain.

I think EVE entered new territory with all of this, and the staff is doing their best to deal fairly without adverse affects in the game, such as giving the old name, space etc. back would have done.

Best wishes o/

What the crap?!?

How in all of EVE did Concord allow the renaming of an alliance and allow them to retain their SOV as though it was started in the past?!?

Only could the illustrious folks of the BoB empire find the resources to bribe Concord into this. This WAS one of the most interesting stories to hit EVE in years and they frigged it up. Now it is nothing more than an emorage whinefest for almost two months that allowed them to gain the good graces once again, thus giving them a significant advantage over all other Capsuleers.

Renaming has never been allowed and why now?

This needs to be answered by the powers that be.

This is so F**ked up. As a paying customer I am outraged at the favoritism given to BOB/Kenny/BOBR.

I demand as a paying customer that their sov be removed and alliance dissolved.

Didnt Ken have towers claiming in a few systems allready? Perhaps that was one of the reasons, quicker sov in a few systems. I dont remember exactly what the deal was. But why care about what alliance name you choose, since it can be changed later on.

This is indeed a messy situation. They got instant sov in a lot of systems as soon as they went to a industrial alliance named kenny. Now they changed that alliance name without a sov reset. Nice one CCP.

Ah well. At least my sig is true.

I think the big deal is that most if not all previous attempts by anybody to have their characters name, their corp name and perhaps their alliance name changed, especially if the new name closely resembles a allready excisting entity in eve has been rejected (unless its offensive then you get to be called Caldari citizen 19943924843980 or something).

In this case the, from the delve II campaign famous goonswarm corp Band of brothers corporation(name taken from a alliance which disbanded itself and claimed they didnt want the name, all in some ISD article) sounds very much like Band of brothers REALOADED. Some people might be confused by the similarities and the new alliance might even try to ride on the fame of the corporation and scam people who are not careful.
