Howdy Folks, [Note: Because player turnout is not much better on weekends, and it is much easier to get resources to debug issues and whatnot during the week, we have decided to move mass-testing back to weekday nights, for the time being.]As announced in my recent Dev Blog, we are now in the next phase of the Mass-Testing project. We will now be holding tests on Tuesdays or Thursdays and directly sending invites to medium and large alliances. These tests will help us assess how well the new expansion performs and thus help us identify any areas that need to be cleaned up to prevent lag from getting out to TQ. We need at least 300 pilots, preferably 500+… the more people who show up, the better. _________________________________ Test schedule:[Dates last updated: July 22] Upcoming: Thursday [August 5] @ 20:00 GMT Thursday [August 19] @ 20:00 GMT Thursday [September 2] @ 20:00 GMT Completed:Saturday [May 15] @ 20:00 GMT -- Special test of EVE Gate and Planetary Interaction Thursday [May 20] @ 20:00 GMT - Special test of a fix for memory issues Friday [May 21] @ 20:00 GMT - Special test of a fix for memory issues Saturday [May 29] @ 20:00 GMT Tuesday [June 22] @ 20:00 GMT Thursday [July 3] @ 20:00 GMT Thursday [July 15] @ 20:00 GMT _________________________________ Alliance Leaders! If your alliance would like to participate in this testing, please send an in-game mail to "CCP Tanis" that you'd like to get involved. Note that Mass-Tests are open to EVERYONE, whether you are in an alliance or not.** If your account isn't active on SiSi, you should visit the Reactivation thread to get that fixed. ** How to connect to Singularity for this test:
- Make a copy of the current Tranquility (TQ) client
- Visit the Sisi patch page.
- Patch the copied client to the Singularity build
- Login to the singularity test server
- Join the in-game channel "MassTesting"
- Listen for instructions and ask questions in-channel
What exactly is being tested?Fleet fight, Session changes:
- Test will begin in X-BV98
- Players will be seperated into two fleets, X and W
- First, Both fleets will jump, at the same time, into Poitot- NO COMBAT will happen yet!
- We will then move both fleets to F67E-Q
- Fleet X will then jump through to MHC-R3 and setup a gate camp
- Fleet W will then jump into Fleet X - short combat
What do I need to do exactly?
- Try running logServer, read here if you're not sure how.
- You will want to bring a fleet-setup dread, carrier, BS or smaller.
- You should pay attention to your FPS (use ctrl+f to view in-game)
- Anyone able to use multiple accounts is strongly encouraged to bring your alts!
What else should I know?
- You can get more testing information by subscribing to the "Mass Testing Info" mailing list on TQ!
- CCP staff and ISD will be on hand prior to the test to help move players to the starting location
- Don't forget to fill out the feedback thread after the test (link!)
- CCP staff and ISD will be on hand prior to the test to help move players to the starting location

Is it ok to reply to this thread? Hope so, if not feel free to push this post to wherever its supposed to be (I can't see for sure). Can I please ask that the following 'standard series of events' gets tested as well please:
- Defenders get 30% of the people on their side, aggressors have 70%
- Titan Bridge aggressors into system (caps and lower hull classes)
- Fire some bombs at the people arriving from the cyno
- Fleet warp Aggressors to the same grid as the defenders
- Drop drones
- Blow up some carriers with a full compliment of 1000s of drones
I shall try to be there for this as well. |

Will you make a fresh mirror of TQ before this? The most recent one is getting a bit old and some people (me!) can't log in on Sisi. |

I agree. Communication is the key. Talk to us (the little guy) and we will understand. Silence is always interpreted as indifference. More devs/mods need to have a dialog with the end user instead of the standard "locked for lack of content." |

valid points for testing add warp disruptor bubbles/dictor bubbles at the gates too as the effects of this will also add to the lag one that i have to disable or I lag out completely is new ecm burst and sensor booster effects |

I doubt that any alliance is going to want to commit any significant fraction of their pilots to a test server fleet fight at a known time and date, as this would be an ideal opportunity for other people to attack their strategic assets.
I would suggest having the mass test coincide with a downtime on TQ, possibly shifting the usual downtime so that it takes place during peak player hours. This would be a welcome break for the Aussies and will encourage many more people, who might not otherwise want to get involved, to take part.

If you make so that for one day or one weekend, for testing purposes, no sovereignty disruptors or POS are allowed to be onlined, I think you will get a lot more pilots to join in the testing.
If the alliance doesn't have to worry about invasion and is not able to invade anything they may just as well join in for fun.
To get an even better turnout, allow some sort of reward for people who participate during the entire duration of the test. I don't know what but give them 50mil isk or something for their troubles. |

I'm just curious, how hard is it to add a check by the server to see if the grid has loaded on the client side before actually placing the ship in the grid? For instance, if I understand this correctly, the client makes a call to the server, server runs the same call on a server-run version of the game, populates the grid, places the user in the grid, then passes back to the user the updated grid in real-time, etc. Why not place the character in limbo while loading the grid, then check to make sure the user's client has loaded the grid properly, then place the ship in the grid. This way, you can't warp into a system and everyone already in the grid sees your ship, and has a chance to fire on it, before the client realizes it hasn't loaded the grid yet. I'm just a simple flash developer, but if I were making a simpler version in flash or java I'd make sure both clients have the same information, and show the user a "loading grid" message or loading animation. Then once everything has loaded, fade everything in nicely, and only after everything is visible for the user, is it represented in local. Not the other way around. But then again I'm just a lowly flash dev, I'm sure it's more complicated than that |

I'd just like to say that Dev's of Eve are a league of their own based primarily on: Quote: First of a new breed You folks have been saying that you want test events that are held at more opportune times for you, and we've listened! These tests do indeed require as many players as we can get, but holding events on weekends or too late into the evenings, on a regular basis, is not as easy to coordinate as one might think. Even game developers and testers have real lives, families, and friends that they enjoy spending time with too. But, we aren't afraid of change, so we've worked out staffing and, from now and into the future, we will be holding test events on weekends, close to peak hours. There will be exceptions to this rule, if critical issues come up that require special testing, but we hope that this new schedule makes participating in these events much easier for you all. The first event in this new series will be held on Saturday, February 20 at 20:00 GMT This first test will be a return to our standard "fleet fight and POS siege" format, with some tweaks and slight changes, look for an official test announcement thread in the General Discussion forums in the coming days. We will post full details and goals for the test there.
That. I've played a handful of starting-up, closed beta, open beta, and relatively tiny and everywhere in between MMOs and none of them have the kind of admin/dev feedback/commitment that Eve has. |

I'm guessing new expansion means the latest (2months) e.g Dominion and not "New" As in coming soon Tm. Testing yes shall be there. |

If this is the tesing for the Incarna Expansion, something tells me people are going to be spending alot more time beating the crap out of eachother in a attempt to produce loss of SP than actually fleet testing, hehe. |

I'll be there with my alt. I'll also see who I can bring from my alliance.
Can anyone tell me whether or not you get reimbursed if your ship is destroyed? I've never done the testing before so I am just wondering how that part works. Also do your skills get maxed out or do you use what skills you have? I had heard of people having their skills maxed out for some tests. Again, just trying to get information. |

It works just like on the real server. Remember though, this is a copy of your character (and all the Item&ISKs) taken some time (a few weeks(?)) ago from Tranquilty onto Singularity, so you do not need to cry. You can easily buy a new ship&setup ... almost everything is priced at 100 ISK at some stations. Sometimes yor skills are maxed out, mostly not. |
