*** UPDATE, Added explorer view for skills that you don't have ***

I've updated my skill planner to include all of the skills now available on the market.

ADDED also unpublished Skills from patch level 3900

Jaabaa's Mini Skill Planner

It is a small Java application that processes the XML DATA from My Characters, you have to download it and save it to your hard drive then open it with my application.

To launch the appliaction all you have to do is double click on the file called "eveskill.jar".

It displays all the skills you have and the combined time it would take to train them to any level and the date/time they would complete if you were to start training them immediately in your local time zone.

There is also an option to save the results as an HTML file.

If you have a skill that the application doesn't know about you can add it yourself to the file "skills.xml" and I wouldn't mind being informed about it too so I can update the zip file accordingly.

I hope this helps someone, and please let me know what you think of it.

Tried out your App and all I got was a white screen, loaded the skills file but NOTHING. Do I need to download something from ccp website to start with?

You need the XML data from the skill tree page, but CCP has disabled it atm. Crying or Very sad

So unless you have a copy of it lying around there isn't much you can do with it atm Sad

could you go into more detail on the use? I double click on the files and nothing happens. does it need ot be in a certain directory?.... i also ahve the XML data saved to my desktop.

Unzip the eveskill.zip into a directory of your choice.
Save the "XML DATA" to a file of your coice (I save mine as "Jaabaa Prime.xml").
Double click on eveskill.jar, when the window opens go to "File -> Open" in the menu and select the XML file that you downloaded.
Voila ...

Update: I messed up "Guided Missile Precision" in the skills.xml file, it says it is a "Rank 2" skill although it is really a "Rank 5" skill. I'll update the zip correct this at some point in the near future, until then you can update the file yourself. Smile

It doesn't seem to factor in my implants.

Gallente drone specialisation doesn't work
Mobile factory operation doesn't work.
Mobiles refinary operation doesn't work.
Gallente starship engineering doesn't work.

Spelling mistake for both:

  • Gallente Drone Specialization

  • Gallentean Starship Engineering

Duh, of course. You will need the "Java Runtime Environment - JRE" to execute it, see: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp (you only need the SDK as a developer and it's MUCH bigger).

Something is still wrong mate with the effective attributes part.

my base are
int 8
cha 8
per 8
mem 8
will 7

it lists my effective as

int 19.8
cha 19.8
per 19.8
mem 19.8
will 23.10

when actually my attributes should be listed as much higher.

8+5(attribute skills)+5(adv attribute skills)+5 (Implant)+ 10% (learning skill)= 25.3

I've got +5s on all except willpower, and +4s on willpower, however the only one working my correct effective attribute is the willpower calculations, since it should be 23.1, while all the others should be 25.3

I just edited a copy of my XML to match what you said and this is what I get displayed:

Attribute - Base value - Effective value
Intelligence - 8 - 25.3
Charisma - 8 - 25.3
Perception - 8 - 25.3
Memory - 8 - 25.3
Willpower - 7 - 24.20

So I can't figure out what's going wrong with your XML file Neutral

Found the problem.

Looking at the XML provided by CCP, it doesn't include any of the data on my +5 implants, only the +4 this is throwing the whole thing out of sync.

Sorry for the trouble.

I do like the sheet, is it possible to say colour code the skill names, to make is more apparent that skill training of the skill is complete?

I like lots of colours :)

So if understand you correctly, CCP doesn't include information for +5 implants in the XML ? If so, have you reported this as a bug to CCP ?

I like lots of colours :)

I would be able to do that IF CCP were to put in the correct SP value for the skill that is currently training and maybe a timestamp when the XML was generated (failing that I could use the file timestamp), but CCP really has to include the current SP value of the skill in training and not just the SPs it had when training started.

Maybe t20 could slightly modify it in this respect and add that information the same way as the old style XML did Wink

but i think the rank fpr science is worng. i have lvl4 for and your tool says, i need 22d+ to complete lvl5, like a rank6 skill. it should be around 4 days...

nothing else to complain ;-)

Science is a rank 5 skill so the time shown *should* be correct. Right click on the skill in game and compare the 2 values, they should match each other exactly.

hm, i just started eve and checked my skilltree. science is an rank 1 skill and need 3d 20h 33m 15s to complete lvl 5, your tool says 22d 14h 16m 6s. looks like a rank 6 skill for me.

I entered level instead of rank, you are of course right. It is a rank 1 skill. I've updated the file to reflect this.

works awsome, but any chance theres a way to add skills? theres a few i would like to check on training times for that i havnt trained yet, be neat to be able to add new ones.

That's easy to do. Just add the skills to a copy of your downloaded character skills (the XML file) and load it in the planner. You have to make sure it's the correct format though.

You can also play about with things like "What effect would a +5 implant have ?" and things like that.

Not quite. The file "skills.xml" contains the skill definitions, things like rank, primary and secondary attributes and the prerequisite skills and levels.
