If it's an ongoing problem (and not just once every blue moon) the issue has 99% to do with the amount of mails in your EVEmail inbox.

Try to keep the number of mails below a few hundred and you should be ok.

The EVE-mail routine sadly needs some serious optimizing.

The Exodus patch amplified this (no idea why).

From one day to the next (Exodus patch day), I got anywhere from 30 to 90 secs .total freeze. of the client each time a new mail hit my inbox.
Clicking anywhere in the inbox (to read mails) caused the same freeze.
Made the game unplayable for me (I get a ton of mails...)

As I suspected it might be the amount of mails in my inbox (1200+ as it turned out), I petitioned to have my mails removed

For a week straight I spend 1-2 hours each playing session deleting mails - But with a 30-90 sec freeze each click - The task was insurmountable. Hence my last resort to petition to have them removed.

When that finally got done - Presto. Zero problems.

Since then I've been very vigilant about deleting 'Hi there' mails and such - and only keeping 'important' ones.
