You have to have a mobile phone that support Java, install it as you would any other application.

Excellent :) looks good so far ... least I'll have something to do in lectures now hehe.

Right have setup my skills on it, only thing it struggles with is it doesn't show you partial skill points, although it's pretty pointless having that Smile

I have to say it's a very nice piece of software, now instead of explaining my character to friends I can show them !!!

Man it's one sweet program! Had to install it into my Nokia 6630 right away.

If you stop training the sp goes back to last level or if you have already learned some it will also show wrong time.

Does it give some sort of alarm when skill is ready? Maybe option to do so? (Definately toggle and if possible silent alarm when phone is in silent mode)

Maybe we could just download and parse our XML file to update the current skill. (And skill tree)

Training times could maybe be shown in the character selection for quick glancing.

Even tho the start animation is nice and all... I would prefer not having to see it everytime.

I know, I will be adding that to the next release and also the ability to enter your SPs manually.

This is my first attempt at writing a J2ME program but I think there is an API available on some phones to add alarms, I'll be looking into this.

There is an API for parsing XML files on some models and I have the dev tools to do this. I'll try to get that into the next release.

Something I wanted to do already, include the skill name and completion time on the character list.

I guess I could add an option to disable it on application start ;)

In the next release you will also be able to hide skills that you don't have. And then show them as required to add a new skill to your trained list.

Updated the program.

Changes:

  • Main List

    • Added total skill count and points

    • Added training skill name and time left

  • Skills list

    • Pressing [1] Hides/Show untrained skills

    • Pressing [3] in the skill details allows you to set the exact SPs you have (when a skill isn't training)

    • Partially trained skills are displayed in different colors (>90% green, >50% yellowish green or yellow if <= 50%)

  • Load XML file

    • Only started on this, so don't be suprised if you get asked if the app can access your phone's file system and the load screen only shows the root entries (press LEFT or [4] to leave the screen).

  • Skill training

    • Training time is now added to a skill's SPs when you stop training.

I'll see if I can get the FS browser and XML stuff finished this weekend.

What I also want to do is add a ship list with required skills and it will show you required skills to fly it, training times, etc., don't know when though.

Just uploaded a new version.

This one adds the cumulative training times for a skill for the untrained levels.

Has anyone tried this one with Nokia 9300i? I have, but can't get it work properly...

If I try to add char, app just keeps repeating Name on every line. Did I just miss something or is it not doable?

After adding a character you should select the [Edit] option to set base attributes and any implants you might have.

Once that is done you can start adding skills.

To to that, select the [Skills] tab, and press [5]/[FIRE], then you can navigate through the skill tree using up/down and left/right.

To set a skill "training" just press [5]/[FIRE] on the skill details.

You can set the exact SPs for a skill by pressing [3]

You can hide/unhide the list of untrained skills by pressing [1]

Hope this helps.

Wow, this is one sweet app! Got it mostly working with my Sony Ericsson z520i

Bug I found though:
a) create a character
b) go into skills (5 on skills)
c) into a sub category (5)
d) into a specific category (5)
e) once in this screen, you can't go back to the specific categories (ie (4) doesnt do anything), you've gotta add a skill before you can go back

Pretty minor, but something to look at Wink

Oh, the above also happens if you just go straight into [skills] without creating a character.

ie
(5) on [skills]
(5) on [Drones]
(5) on [Drone Durability]

Doing the following, locks you into a list of the drone skills and you cant do anything at all, just scroll the list up or down Surprised

Thanks for reporting this.

Both situations are related to the same bug.

I just uploaded version 1.2.4 which fixes this.

Ok it seems to be pretty cool, but i dont think its working properly on my phone.
I installed it, ran it, then only one option showed up on the main menu. Thought that was the way it was supposed to be, was going through the skills list... pretty neat. Then i selected a skill for detail about it, neat. Tried get out of it, doesn't work :( I just have to keep scrolling through all teh skills in detail in that catagory, and thats all there is.
Keep up the good work though
p.s phone is motorola e770v (i think)

Hi Shigsy,

The app uses the following keys:
[4] - Left
[6] - Right
[2] - Up
[8] - Down
[5] - Select
[1] - Show/Hide untrained skills
[3] - In skill details allows you to set the exact skill points for that skill

You use left/right to change the option at the top.

Select "Add" (Use left/right until it appears the press [5]) to add a character and enter the name.
Select "Edit" to set the base attributes and any implants you might have.

Select "Skills" and move up and down to the group you want and open the group using [Select] or [Right].
To leave a group use [Left].

In the group move up and down to the skill you want and open the group using [Select] or [Right].
To leave a skill and go back to the group use [Left].

In an untrained skill the level boxes are red, you use [Right] to increase the level of the skill (0->5), increasing it again at level 5 puts it back as being untrained.
To set the exact skill points press [3] and a dialog will appear that allows you to do so (you can only do this if the skill isn't training).
Pressing select in the skills details toggles the skills "in training" flag if it is not already at level 5, and the times and skill points switch to green.

I thought that I had fixed that "leave skill" bug, but it is still there if a character hasn't been created. I've just uploaded version 1.2.5 that fixes this issue.

What method are different folks using to install java apps on their phones?

I have a Razr that I have reflashed with a Stock MonsterPack from MotoX. Hook it up to the comp, run p2k Commander and once its linked go into KJava, I have plenty of other JAR apps that I've installed this way, simple point-click ad installed, however when I do the planner this way and run it I get a white screen (loading standard) and then it closes out with applicaion error...

Thoughts would be nice, also since Im a nublet in this area, what is the necessity of the *.jad file?

From my understanding of the whole java thing, the .jad file is a compiled version of the .jar that some phones prefer. Hence you just install one or the other.

I don't know if I am using the program wrong or not, but after I select a skill I can no longer select any others. I set my Drone Level to 5 and after that I couldnt see any other skill groups when I went "back".

I had to delete the character, problem persists.

This application sounds great. I'm trying to install it on a SE P910i but keep getting an "Incompatible Java version" error when installing.

I don't think that the P910i supports CLDC-1.1, it only does CLDC-1.0.

Does the Java source rely on CLDC version 1.1 features? If not would you please try making available a version of the application set for CLDC-1.0.

Many thanks and keep up the good work.
