I'm not completely versed in the history of EVE and its alliances, but right now we're on the brink of seeing an all out conflict between an extremely large number of alliances.

(If someone could help fill in all the gaps here that'd be nice.)
It seems we have:

BoB + D2 + IRON + *insert allies*vs. GS + SMASH + ERA + *insert allies*

Will this in fact be the largest conflict in the game? Should we start taking bets?


On a side note (and I have an unfortunate feeling that this completely non-flame but rational train of thought will either be deleted by forums mods or result in the complete deletion of this thread in which I really don't want to discuss this, but just wanted to voice an honest opinion) . . .

I am a member of GoonSwarm, but I am not a goon in the sense of the term. I didn't come from the SA forums, I'm here because I wanted a fun corp to play this game in and a friend of mine sponsored me in.

As such, I don't tend to share the same sense of humor as most goons. While I do find much funny, and I do enjoy the company and comradery that I have enjoyed these past few months, there are some things that I find rather tasteless and tactless and this is most definitely one of those things. There should never be any disrespect for the dead.

That having been said, I do question BoB's motives right now. There are two reasons for an assault upon GS: BoB is threatened by the rise of another strong power nearby or personal vengeance.

The timing of this incident does seem to be a little convenient for D2 et al. If BoB truly does feel threatened by the uprising of a large force right on their doorstep, then they should treat it as such. To use this as a false pretense for war is, in my opinion, just plain disgusting.

If this is in fact 100% about the passing away of a dear friend of the EVE community and the subsequential tasteless remarks made by a certain (or perhaps few) GoonSwarm members then that is truly just ridiculous. Yes, everyone should be made to be held accountable for their actions, but to become angry and swear for the ultimate destruction of an entire alliance for personal vindication, well, that my friends is quite possibly one of the most childish actions you can find in this game. If this truly is the reason for BoB deciding to attack GS, then all notions of BoB being high and righteous go out the window. If I were in the position of someone insulting a deceased personal friend of mine, I would be furious. But would I swear vengeance? No. I have more tact than that. I do not need to stoop to the level of immaturity of those who made the comment.

If you want to come fight us because this is war and you need to maintain power then fine. Come fight us. That is what this game is about and I will welcome the fight. But if you choose to come fight us for this pretense, well, then I will lose all respect I had for BoB.
