The Golden Rule

Investing in EVE is finally beginning to pick up steam. Several successful ventures have brought very nice returns to their investors. Examples include O’Mara Shipyards, De Mont, EMFi, and others. There have also been very successful scams, the poster child of course being the EIB “ponzi scheme” debacle.

Investing, no matter what, is always risky. The Golden Rule is: don’t invest what you can’t afford to lose!!!

Investing in a Business

All IPO's should have a business plan. There should be discussion on how the business works. Are they selling ships, tradining minerals, etc? All IPO's should have a "doomsday" scenario and an exit strategy. What's the worst that could happen? If the worst happens...what then?

Mitigating Risk in Investing

Ideally, companies that offer IPO's should already be following the business plan they lay out if possible, showing the true feasability of their business model. Sometimes this isn't possible (because of the need for startup capital) but if it is possible...it should be done. Clear reporting is key.

I updated the post, I'm beginning to run out of room for characters so i'm not sure what to do with it. I may do another post and break the sections into their own replies.

Anyhow, I was conservative in what companies I listed as "most trusted". Basically these are companies that are well known, established, and have good reputations.
