This week's story is "Postnatal". It's part of the "New Environments" feature of Kali and focuses on one of many regions that have been overtaken by rogue drones; more specifically, on a particular laboratory now in disarray.

Postnatal is a horror story, dealing with a rogue drone that's gone quite spectacularly mad. Our Art department did a particularly nice job for this one, and deserve much kudos.

CCP's art department deserves a hell of a lot more than kudos, to be honest. There's real brilliance at work with those people.

Edit: This is awesome, by the way.

Because it's completelyinsane. Wink

(It doesn't need organic hosts at all. It's mad, and trying to cure itself in the only ways it can think of.)

Great to see a return of regular chronicles.

But is there any chance that we'll ever get to see the ones released only in the magazine? For those of us that care about the canon storyline but do not subscribe, their existance out of reach is maddening.

Sounds like a great reason to subscribe? :)

Seriously, what would be the point of doing things exclusively for a magazine when that content would be made available for free to everyone? Other than to try to reduce the number of folks who subscribe?

Just let me say it again for second time in 8 days: POTWs FTW!

Very nice story it'd be neat if the new regions have rogue drones as they were supossed to be in the start. Smile

I like it!

However, I would like to note that formating could use some work. I find it distracting.

The advantage of subscribing is that you get to see the stuff first, months before everyone else. In addition, for those that care, it's a collectable.

EON's a limited edition publication. Even if everyone wanted to pony up the cash for only a half dozen pages of interest, not everyone could actually buy a copy in the end.

Nice story. I wonder how long before the Rogue Drones start using biological constructs.

Another great story. I like the almost Hemingway-ish focus on action which fits a story about a mad drone well. It also emphasizes the emotions of the drone which makes it a very gripping horror story.
A machine gone mad...*shudders*...

Looking forward to next Monday.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Orphyx will be a named spawn in the new zones. Very Happy Yes, I expect his "battle body" to be the size of a Dreadnaught and completely bad ass.

Well done again, Brax. Any idea when we'll be getting Chrons on the Jin-Mei or Achura, though? Their backstories still need some filling out.

Somehow I almost feel "sorry" for the drone.

It is in a HUGE universe and by the description of the story it is virtually left to fend for itself. I mean perhaps it doesn't quite realise the sheer size of its surroundings, but nonetheless if there were some way to reason with it, it may just allow someone to help it in return for not killing that person or even living with that person (Domi or vexor anyone?).

Perhaps thats too far, but I almost feel guilty for leaving my drones out in the cold of space, on their own and almost consider them "family" you could say.

Man thats a good story to get me emotions up like that. Awesome.

I don't know; CCP has reprinted EON 1, and with that AFAIK all issues are currently available. I think that if some issue sold out and there was interest in a reprint, they would do it, just as they did for issue 1. Given that, people who want to read EON can buy it.
