I've been seeing a few people posting that they are getting close to 80 RP/day. Is this possible or just bugged?

With my level 3 research agent (quality -10, unfortunatly) with Rocket Science level 2 (both of us) I'm getting about 14.4 RP/day.

Am I missing something in the calculations or what? Because getting 80 RP/day seems like a huge jump for just a higher agent quality and 1 more level in the science skill.

Reasearch Points per day = [(1+EffectiveQuality/100) * ((agentskilllvl + yourskilllvl) ^ 2)] * RaceBonus

Your and your agent's skill levels figure in greatly. The agent's quality can give you up to a 50% bonus (limit on agent quality).

Starship Research will give a 3x the rp's. Weapons research (Graviton-Caldari, Laser-Amarr, Nuclear-Minmater, Plasma-Gallente) will give you a 2x bonus. Note that when you train these skills you limit yourself to a relatively small area of blueprints. You get the bonus to give you an edge over other people in related fields that will be eligible for other blueprints including the ones you are eligible for.

I dont fully understand this.

For example, im researching Hydromagnetic physics with my agent, will training one of the skills u listed give an extra bonus to my rp.

Or

If u are reaerching one of the areas u listed then u will generally have more rp then other reserach fields as they dont have the multipliers.

Yes you will have more Research Points, but you will be eligible to participate in fewer lotteries.

Thank you, Crowman, for shedding some light upon that.

However, are ALL skills prone to faction bonus? For example, I am researching Rocket Science with a Gallente agent, being Gallente myself. I get no multiplier - does anyone know if ANY of the factions get that?

Or is it just the ship/weapons tech that gives out multiplier (which would seem logical enough, since the Amarr would not want their Tech2 Raven in the hands of a Minmatar)?

The racial skills are:

Gallante:
Gallante Starship
Plasma Physics

Amarr:
Amarr Starship
Laser Physics

Minmater:
Minmater Starship
Nuclear Physics

Caldari:
Caldari Starship
Graviton Physics

Only agents of the appropriate race will have those skills. You get a 3x bonus for Starship research, and 2x bonus for the weapons skills.

You will only be eligible to participate in lotteries for either ships or weapons. You will still have to compete with other people researching related fields, but you will have a greater chance of winning because of your bonus points.

Could be a bug but - In Duvolle (gal corp) there is an RD agent (lvl 1 or 2 - I cant eb bothered to log in and check for name and lvl atm Wink with the following skills
High Energy Physics level 1
Plasma Physics level 3
Laser Physics level 1

Seems the Laser Physics skill is not restricted to Amarr.

Should the first part of that not be.....

[(1+(EffectiveQuality/100))

Just as it stands it makes the 1 appear insignificant.Crying or Very sad

Your agent is underskilled for his level. As a general rule of thumb, an agent has his level in the skill. This is however not entirely true in all cases. Thus in this field he's as good as a typical level 2 agent.

Papa, what about RD corps that have level 3 agents but not a single level 3 skill?

Ok lemme get this straight...

I started out wanting to Research Mechanical Engineering only...

Unfortunately I'm with a corp that the lvl 3 agents only have this skill to lvl 2, as opposed to lvl 3.

So currently I'm getting:

(1+(32/100))*((2+3)^2)*1 = 33 RP/day in Mechanical Engineering

If I stick to just Mechanical engineering, and not train the other skills my Agent has (Electromagnetic, Graviton & Calsari SSE) will I be killing myself when it comes to getting a BP, or will I be helping myself in the Mechanical Engineering feild by just sticking with that and not spreading my RP too thin?

I set out to try and win a BP in one field...

Is this the wrong way to do it???

You're definitely suffering compared to if you had a R&D agent with level 3 in Mechanical Engineering: specifically, your rate of RP gain would be 56.25% higher if you had one; 125% higher if you also train yours to level 3.

What you should do, and quickly, is check all the R&D corps for your favourite faction, and think about switching to one who provides it at level 3. If you can get with him in no more than a couple of days or so, the gains in the rate of increase will more than offset the wasted points from abandoning your current project.

That's my advice, anyway. Others may disagree. I don't know if training other skills which that agent also works in, will make any difference at all to your Mechanical Engineering project; I doubt it.

After much reading I'm still uncertain on a few things:-

1) If I stop research with one agent and move to another are all points gained completely lost and I start from scratch?

2) If I stay with the same agent but move to a different skill are all points lost?

3) If I train in another skill that the agent has does this benefit my current project?

4) My agent has laser physics 1 (I'm gallente but its the only skill I had) if I train my skill higher than 1 will this improve RP rate?

If anyone can clarify, thanks.

1. Yes, all points will be lost and you will start again.

2. From what I've seen, Yes. All points will be lost, and you will start again.

3. Really haven't seen anything related to this, and really am hoping someone can answer!!

4. I don't *believe* so, but again, hoping someone else will answer!

On the 4th part I can assure you that your RP rate will be improved (same situation, trained lvl2 skill and got x2 RP/day)

The rest plz someone answer :o

Two more question from me :
-The bonus when u complete a research agents' mission is fixed (I received 10rp approx) or does it depend on something?
-Are the afforementioned racial multipliers the only ones? e.g. electronic engineering is not boosted by any race?

thanx

No, it wont benefit you if u train a differnt skill that your agent has, to what u are researching atm. However, training the negotiation skill, will increase your agents EQ, therefore giving u more RP/day.

If you are researching in that field then, yes, u will get more RP per level u train.
