What is the best electronic warfare ship? I am thinking of specialising in EM, and looking for a ship to skill up to. Is being an EM expert fun? Can you affect a lot of enemy ships at once? Have you any good setups? |

Ever since the EW nerf I think EW has lost some of it's flair. That being said, every race has a cruiser that has some form of EW, Aribtrator has tracking disruptor bonus for instance, so you can try something like that. Otherwise, Caldari have the best jamming EW and for that the recon ships (Falcon/Rook) are really nice. If you want to get a taste of EW though, I would try the Blackbird or maybe the Scorp.
Hope this helps. |

I think the Rook is the best Jamming platform at the moment.
However Jamming isn't the only form of EW, don't discount Remote Sensor Dampening, which is a Gallente specialisation. The Celestis is the first place to look for that. |

ibis. by far. no fun byside. prolly the blackbird for beginners ( dari ) ecm the arbitrator ( amarr ) tracking dis the celestis ( gal ) sensor damp bellicose ( minnie ) TP when u get more into caldari ships + bs skills use the scorp. when u rly wanna be the ecm ***** in your gang then skill for the falcon to all sneaky like uncloak, jamm, cloak, or the rook which can put out pretty bad dmg too ( well its okay ^^ ) |

Edited by: Rania Serlia on 30/03/2007 18:32:05 Curse(massive nos spam @30km+ adds another dimension to an EW boat) or Lachesis, I would presume.
Rook is a good boat as well, of course, but with the current state of damps, I'd say the lachesis is probably the most powerful small gang cripple ship at this point(2 damps for you, 2 damps for you, 2 damps for you...).
I personally find that flying my EW curse/bb/celestis/arbitrator is quite amusing to fly, espescially given the pain and anguish you inflict on someone when you utterly remove them from a fight, or neutralize their damage output, or... make them take 200 seconds to lock an interceptor(if it doesn't move).
EW ships are fairly intuitive to set up.
HIGH: whatever you want/can fit
MID: SENSOR BOOSTERS AND BONUSED/favorite EW
LOW: TANK, EW BOOSTER, SIGNAL AMP
Or somesuch, it varies from ship to ship.
EDIT: the force recons are also good EW boats if you can live with a locking delay after decloaking, and fewer slots. Combat recons are simply better at being dedicated EW ships(yaymids). This is espescially the case with the rook/falcon, where the falcon is pretty well nerfed into near uselessness. |

Lachesis for dampeners, or Rook for Jammers id say. |

ECM is nice if used well, but it dosn't guarantee a permanent jam. ECM's real strength is it's range. If you're looking for a ship that can simply perma jam something, try a gallete recon such as the Arazu or Lachesis. Personally, I can damp two targets down to 10% targeting range at a time in my arazu.
Here's a tip for damping: always overdo it. I fit 4x Phased Muon damps and 2x inverted signal fields, and even with less than perfect e-war skills (signal suppression is only at 3), I get a 90% damp with just two of my sensor dampeners. The other two are there to jam another target if need be.
ECM and sensor dampening ships should be fast. They need to be able to stay at range, so the faster the better. Of course, that's a different story if you decide to fight point blank like some EW pilots. The Pilgrim and Lachesis can successfully fight at close range. Lachesis can easily damp most targets down past web range, and pilgrims need to tackle their opponents so they need to be at close range.
I used the following celestis setup for a long time with alot of success: High: 2x heavy missile launcher (saves cap and doesn't have tracking) 1x drone link augmentor 1x small remote armor rep Mid: 1x warp disruptor 4x remote sensor dampener II low: 1x 1600mm rolled tungsten plate 1x damage control 1x best named cap power relay Drone bay: 3x hammerhead I or II 2x Warrior II Cargo: 500 of each heavy missile 5 exotic dancers for luck.
This was mostly a small gang support setup, but it worked well enough solo to kill a handful of cruisers and below. |

Edited by: Robke on 30/03/2007 20:06:06 In my opinion: best - worst Jamming - sensor dampening - tracking disruption - target painting.
Tracking disruption is cool, but as it doesn't work on missile ships it's not flexible enough. |

i think the rook is the best ew ship out there...but very skill intensive
apart from that....i dont think there is amuch better ew ship than the caldari scorpion! that ship is an ew monster!! and with decent skills, this ship can really effect the outcome of fleet battles, so ive been told. however...coz they are so effective....they are also one of the first ships to be targeted. |

The Rook is good at what it does; but there's a lot to EW apart from just jamming them. Arazu's/Lachesis can be quite deadly, and you get both a tackler and a EW-ship in one package. Curse/Pilgrim is a quite nasty one if you're up against turret-ships - don't forget about the other EW ships, they can be just as deadly :) |

Arazu, Lachesis, Celestis.
Remote Sensor damps were always better than ECMs, the balance came from the fact that they weren't as much of a no-brainer. |
