While the current idea that everyone is in a pod and they control the whole ship from ths comforts of this supper technological device is alright, but what about crews. Having a crew only seems normal. Everone who watchs sci-fi movies has seen atleast one movie with spaceships there is always a crew, well if it is big enough.
Frigates = no Crew Cruisers = Small crew Battle Cruisers = Medium Crew Battle Ships = Large Crew Capitals = X-Large Crew
Having a crew would give its own bonuses based on the grade of the crew. Having special members could have the same effect as a module.
Now for the other side Boarding. If there is a crew we could have boarding actions. Maybe a highslot module that launchs small torpedo ships that impact the other ship and releases the men inside the ship. Then the men could do one of several things such as
~Kill enemy crew ~Eject POD ~Ransoms - Which would be much easier this way because rather then having to stop shooting open a chat and determine the ransom, an ammount could be set before hand and if the player doesn't pay then his POD could be ejected leaving him at risk! ~Sabotage the enemy ship and or modules - This would be easier then targeting part of the ship for direct fire, but more time consuming. ~Hostile Take overs
These are just some of the things boarding opens up. Boarding could aslo be used to make taking over a POS faster because you don't have to beat the POS to a pulp.
Some simple rules would be Boarding can only take place after bolth sheilds and armor are gone. Can only use 1/4 of the crew in an attempt to board the enemy vessal/POS. Also the size of the vessal would determine how many boarding attempts can be made at any one time. Because we all know that 1000 frigates could attach to a titan, but even one titan would be too much to attach to a frigate.
And yes I know this whole concept is very complex. But it would truly add to the 3d/4d experience of the game. |
