EVE Fanfest 2007 has ended, but we'd like to hear from you. What happened to you at the Fanfest? If you brought your camera, where are the pictures? What did you think about the Fanfest this year, what was good so we don't change it, what was bad and where can we improve it for next year? Please share it all in this forum thread. We'd also like to thank everyone who came and made this the best Fanfest to date; we hope we get to see you all next year. We also hope that those of you who couldn't make it this year will come as well, and help next year be even better! |

I had a great time, was great to meet players and devs alike, it was my first fanfest and it sure as hell won't be my last.
Was great to meet corp/alliance mates and old enemys and just get to know people, I did have a running theory for a while though that it was impossible to get drunk in Iceland, after drinking unfeasably large amounts and feeling wide awake and sober.
Icelands really nice, and the people seemed really friendly everywhere I went. Nightclubs in the centre are tiny though.
Presentations were good, and it was good to be able to hold devs down and ask them questions (I feel really sorry for Zulu, who incidently is a top fella, and I meant to buy him a beer but forgot, he'll have to remind me next year)
I've come home with some great stories to tell my corp and alliance mates, and i'm sure there will be more of us there next year now.
To all those I met, missing you already and see you all again in 12 months.

Edited by: Saladin on 05/11/2007 20:42:32 Edited by: Saladin on 05/11/2007 13:56:05 I can't believe I waited 4 years to come to the fanfest. It was simply amazing, even with Icelandair losing my luggage.
I was amazed (in a good way) at the general attitude of the CCP team. They were all too willing to poke fun at themselves and didn't take themselves too seriously. I loved the presentation that showed pics of the moustache strike of 2002. If I don't like any upcoming nerfs, I am so growing a moustache for next year.
See you guys next year. |

Holy mother of all parties that was the best 3 days i've had in a while.
Highlights...
Sat in the Blue Lagoon during a mini-hurricane. Supposed to be a placid lake, when we were there, we had to endure 80m an hour winds and 3 foot waves. Awesome!
Jungle Curry. A certain alliance leader and friend who will remain nameless talked me into trying the famous Jungle Curry on the basis it "wasn't really that hot!". I should have known by the way that Stavros kept laughing that I was being lied too. By mouthful 15 i was almost in tears and had to give in and order a glass of milk to take the burning away. It was stinging my lips to breathe at this point.
Meeting friends old and new. Saladin, Delictum guy (sry name escapes me), Seleene, Zulupark, Alhaquis, Hilmir, Hellcore, Captain Rikdik and countless others.
Met Kieron (sound guy) in the hotel lounge at 4 am after the first night and the night after some beardy White Wolf guy who was really quite cool.
There was so much going on i missed half of it but the bits i could get too were awesome. Talking to the devs on such a close basis about the game they clearly love was just effing awesome.
Iceland is a beatiful beautiful place and i am already saving for next years FF. I know I am going out earlier next year and plan on spending a week there. Might try and blag some friendly dev into letting me see CCP's offices.
Oh and the trailer we got to see of Trinity 2 is mind bogglingly good. Jaw dropping eye watering sense jangling nerve tingling spank-bank material of the highest calibre. Sorry to be so vulgar but thats just how good it is. |

It was Absolutely fantastice met some awesome peeps swapped stories and experiences over a beer and pizza,
The preview of the new graphics was Awe inspiring
Spent some time with MC and BoB - you guys rock, nice peeps to know, but above all its great to see the passion for Eve not only in the players there but in the CCP staff and volunteers (Eve TV rocks)
Which shows in the way they talked about Eve and worked damn hard to make FanFest happen.
The wife who attended as a Sister of Eve member was absolutely enthralled by what she saw and thoroughly enjoyed the activities presented to her which included a excursion on the friday and saturday.
Absolutely no negatives only positives to talk about and remember.
Thankyou you all for making 2007 another great year in Eve.

This was my first EVE Fanfest, and I’m so happy that I went there. It was awesome; especially the Trinity previews took my breath away… WOW! To the players who haven’t been at a Fanfest yet, I can only say: “Go there next year, you won’t regret it!”… I have a little request though. After Hilmar’s Keynote, and during the Q&A session, there was an “EVE Forever” wallpaper on the projectors, and I really think it was…MOZO!!!! Any chance of us ordinary mortals getting hold of that wallpaper?!? High lights of the Fanfest were: - The Exotic Dancer song (sorry about the quality, the cameraman was drunk)… - ... and the Golem Design Workshop 1, 2, 3 |

Edited by: Zajo on 05/11/2007 18:05:53 I'd like to thank CCP for the most uber time. It was awesome and I will most definately do my best to show up next time. A special thanx goes out to all the female devs who tried their very best to make this experiance special for all the female players in EVE. The coctail party was a blast. We started out with 10-15 bottles of sparkling strawberry whine and three hours later (all bottles empty) several females left that room a bit more intoxicated than when they went in. Was nice to meet the ppl you play with and the ppl behind the game so thanx to everyone that showed up. If I could I would write down everyone that made a lasting impression on me but unfortunatly several names has slipped my mind (I blame the dev's that ran around giving out free beer tokens all the time) but a few I do remember is Paniq (lots of love), Winterblink, Vegeta and Mitchman (my fellow partners in crime), Trevedian and Eddz (great story tellers and extremly funny dudes), the two crazy pirate dudes and so many many more.
Will never forget the trip to the Blue Lagoon, I was promised a soothing and relaxing time but it was all but that as you can read in Viqer Fell's post. Huge waves and the horizontal rain made the experiance memorable. Still I do not regret going there.
Best day has to be the last one, all the amazing presentation and final the best party ever. Our little group left around 01.00 (I think) for a night in town. Several more beer and loads of dancing (Oveur showed up and proved he don't only give great presentations but he also is a hell of a great dancer) later we finally got home around 07 in the morning.

This was my first Fanfest, and i must say i had a blast! I'd like to thank Star Fraction for letting me hang out with them, excellent group they are!
The presentations were great and got me very stoked about what's coming in the future (especially with Trinity). Discussions about ambulation and the future of heat were great as well. It's great to see how CCP and the community are able to communicate to make the game better for everyone.
One thing i would like to say though. Access to tranquility was quite limited, there were only two machines where one could go to log in. I know that the point of fanfest isn't to go to iceland just to log on, but there did seem to be quite a wait sometimes if you needed to log in to check a skill, or check up on corp/alliance members. The solution to this is up to CCP ofc, but it would be nice to have a bit more access, or somehow regulate it so you don't wait 45 minutes while someone in front of you does a mission.
All in all i had a blast! the people were great, the alcohol was plentiful, and my liver barely survived by going into a coma. I'll be returning next year for sure! |

Actually I thought the number of machines was fine. What a waste it would be to come all the way to Iceland to sit in front of a computer screen. The wait time was an added bonus as it enabled me to socialize with other people in the line. Without it I would have not been able to say hi to Viqer Fell, played with Mapsu's carebear, discussed invention strategy with some folks from BNC and KIA, or identify other pilots I had flown with in the past. The queue is what you make of it. |

This was my first FanFest and all I can say is wow. I know the hard work that went on behind the scenes and everyone at CCP worked very hard to turn out a spectacular event. But, I was seriously impressed with the fans that made it to the event. I dont think that I have been to an event with people as passionate about a game as you all are! It was great talking with people about their thoughts and experiences in Eve. I have to admit my favorite part other than the party of course was the PVP tournament! I do not think that you could have scripted a better PVP finals than having two teams fighting it out with exactly the same ships. It was right down to the wire and for the first kills, it had people on the edge of their seat. Congrats to the finalist, you guys did an awesome job. The whole pvp tournament itself was electric and my hat goes off to all of you that participated. Oh yeah.. the Trinity trailer was fairly good too...... |

Edited by: Zuldjan on 05/11/2007 20:56:26 The fanfest was the most fun ive had in a long time.... If you never made it this year, or last, or never been at all before to a meet, then you need to get a grip of yourself.... SAVE SOME MONEY, GET YORU MATES TOGETHER AND GET THERE. It was awesome.
From the moment myself and Lanari arrived at the gate for the plane, we were having fun with guys from all sorts of alliances and corporations. And dare i say it, Goonswarm.....
Parleck of DS1 (Goonswarm) and his bro (cant remember game name), outstanding lads. Although for all you bob pilots/MC etc. I did get one up on all of you by hitting Parlek in the face with a broken vodka bottle in our hotel room (It was an accident honest!!!) Interdiction, IAC, Smash, Roadkill, CoW, BoB and sorry to say it, but Goonswarm, it was the pilots who made the fanfest what it was.
CCP thanks for hosting such an awesome event. I for one will def be back next year, hope to see lots of familiar faces. DS1, thanks for trying to recruit us to the darkside but think we'll stay on the lighter side of EVE. Ur a stand up guy tho.
Evil Synn, awesome lad, and good pilot, done us proud by joining our alliance team in the tourny. Had some awesome fights.
And if i havent tempted you all so far in coming along next year, ill leave you with a thought.
Two naked Icelandic girls in my shower while we partied with a gorgeous brunette, lots of icelandic girls in the pubs who just come and chat you up (hardly any effort required) and dare i say it, even some REALLY hot DEV girls.
P.S a link for our pics will b posted here soon.

Best 3 days I've had in ages tbph. Only thing I will change for next year is to show up earlier.
The presentations/roundtables/pvp tourny/etc. were all quite a lot of fun and you could tell that a lot of work went into making the FF. Kudos to CCP for putting on such a great event.
By far the best part though was the people. New people and everyone just drank (a lot) of beer, partied, and had a good time. Calm, Rick, Tzeer, Silas, Proteuz, Stav, Vels, John (wtf is your ig name), Shin Ra, Trev... looking forward to next year. |

i had a great time and i have to agree with the person above me there was some awesome looking dev girls there even those that came in disguise (Eris you where spotted, but i didn't come and say hello thought there was a reason you where in disguise), then again hell all the lasses there looked gorgeous and i dont just mean at the FF i mean in the entire country (you lucky dogs you), i will be coming back but this time for 2 weeks, i would have stayed at the party on saturday longer but i had a flight really early in the morning,
i do have a couple of things to put to you guys though, 1. the jita area needs to be bigger next time. 2. get some Viking in Tuborg tastes like dishwater compared to that. 3. more prizes events and things we can enter even though i did like the live agents touch that was pretty good i have some on video which im waiting on uploading. 4. maybe have a night out on the friday night scheduled like a club/pub or something, a place with drinking and of course music, i would sign up for that in a heartbeat and im not a big clubber type person
with the exceptions of these things above i had a great laugh glad i came for the week, gonna have to be 2 weeks next year.
P.S. winter has uploaded my pic take a guess which one i am

I had a very good time: the presentations and round-tables were interesting and gave some insight into a lot of different aspects of EVE. The events and entertainment were fun and simply meeting so many different people was a big part of it.
I would recommend it to anyone. Definitely gives a fresh view on EVE.
Thanks to all the devs, staff and vols who made it all possible.

Edited by: The Padre on 05/11/2007 23:31:47 Wow it was a very srange experience for me. I managed to injure my foot just before coming so was limping the whole time and in agony. At the same I have been taking medication for craziness (to keep things short) which meant I couldn't drink alcohol so the massive budget I had allocated for drinking was sitting around doing nowt, its amazing how few people (none) took up the offer of a free drink or two. I put signs up and even made myself look an absolute ijeet with a handwritten note "talk to me and I will buy you a beer" and various things and still no one wanted one.
I kind of feel actually that maybe my pills weren't working too well lol
Hopefully I won't be a crippled maniac next year!
it would be cool if Icelandair would have their package deal cover the day before fanfest so that we don't miss most of the first day travelling. |
