Like I have mentioned a couple of times before, we have a big patch coming up. Many have heard the name the New World Order and that it will feature a number of new capital ships.
However, this patch is just the beginning - or ramp up - to what we call internally the real "New World Order". As can be seen in the similarly named blog, this patch brings changes to 0.0 chokepoints and the removal of some empire highways. Increasing tension between a number of factions within the EVE world is resulting in some serious new coalitions emerging due to the rising hostilities, where old brothers in arms join forces to prepare for the storm rising.
As such, this is more groundwork, although these changes are by no means small, the eclipse is later this year where we'll see some real changes start to happen to the EVE universe as a result of this rampup, where the pilots star having real effects on ... well, more on that later this year.
That's it for this parts big sneak peak, other honorable mentions which you will be able to test drive on Singularity are considerably more durable Logistics Cruisers, armor plates and shield extenders getting a significant increase, shield boosting has been improved slightly and mobile warp disruptors get smaller, cheaper and faster (and hopefully working 100% all the time).
Stay tuned for the next ... uhm ... 3 sneak peaks. Well, maybe 4. Either way, there's more to come! Oh, one last question on your minds, which is probably "when?" will not get answered this time around, but the Dev Chat tomorrow over at omgrawr.net might include more tidbits about the patch ;)

btw, players start... means actualy use for pos other then forming mining outposts in 0.0 right ? Like improvements and extensions to the way the standing systemcan be used and affect us all, and maybe some static defenses and some nice environments that can spice things up in 0.0 ? tbh, later this year does not sound very good. I'd expect at least some additional content to balance out 0.0 before that. I mean, what is the use of going there again if there is more to be gained in empire ? What part of this patch here adresses that ? Is there ?

Maybe im being sceptic (sp?) here, but there is nothing new in this Dev Blog? I for one did not count on this NWO untill Around Christmas. And if its anything like the old patches, we have to wait an additional 6-8 months for the real content to make it in. Oh well, ill be around to see it either way.

I wouldn't mind the cost of running POS to be cheaper, oh and to be really cheaper to set up. Other then that, I really can't wait.

Looking forward to this NWO as it should open up 0.0 for us empire dwellers to explore, and the pirates get more targets to shoot, hopefully stop all this empire suicide ganking and bored PvP corps declaring war on mining corps for fun, there'll be plenty of us out in 0.0 I hope. :)

Does it mean that at some point concord will sort of allow wars between factions? meaning corporations will have to declare allegiance to en empire? That would create so much more interaction and would lead to some interesting choice such as raiding parties of caldari corporations killing gallente corporations (players of course) and also end the starter corps so people can t take shelter in them.

It's quite redundant asking what "start ..." means later this year, since if I were going divulge the details of what's happening then, I would pretty much put it in the blog, wouldn't I? :)
On other questions regarding this patch, I'll refer you to the dev chat.

Oveur, I just looked at the changes to logistics crusiers and posted my 2 cents on the ships/mods forum ( http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=150672&page=8 ). My question really is why such weak changes? Seems like a bandaid for a broken leg isn't going to help much.

i think a 0.0 systems sec rating shud be allowed small changes depending on the POS that is built and the Corp, if a "Friendly" Corp goes in and kills Player and NPC Pirates then they can increase the System status as they do personal status which could balance out the systems and make more systems more accesible for early players or ones who are venturing into low sec for first time. Obviously the changes would need to be kept to a limit on how quickly systems change and how easy a system is to "convert" depending on activity

Some serious attention to the market regarding Tech2 items is most definately required. The lottery system just automatically gives people a monopoly, rather than proper market competition to keep pricing controled. It's gotten way outta hand and needs some serious attention, either by greatly increasing the # of T2 BPO's of items flaoting around or by ending the monopoly after a set time by releasing these BPO's into the public domain after a set period. Another option of course is to either introduce % caps on prices, or to use the AI corps as a steam value, so that anyone trying to manipulate the market, the AI corps step in and release goods until prices drop to sensible levels.

Other things that need attention perhaps are ore distribution to encourage 0 space production, and perhaps the system wide belts that didn't make it in sometime ago. Isogen yeilds are way too low for most roids, it can take upto a entire belt now for 1 BS, kinda silly really. We got the facilites to allow it in 0 space now hows about the rest? :)

I'd like to see rare ores periodically spawn in higher security level systems. It would motivate newcomers to stay in the game too, especially since most end up mining for part of their career in the beginning. Wouldn't it be nice to stumble upon a nugget of dark ochre every now and then while mining in a system more secure than 0.0?... even 0.5?

I completely agree with Hawk Firestorm on everything he's mentioned. Specifically, I like the % caps on prices ALOT! This should be an easy enough thing to add to the game. All items seem to have a base price anyway, so a safeguard measure in both the Market and Escrow should be easy enough to implement.

Why do I feel that Eve is going down the pan ? 1# Is it the direction the game is heading? 2# Is it the fact that all changes have to be so radical? 3# Is it where everyone heads in a direction of choice only to have it nobbled by the devs? 4# Is it because no-one is actually LISTENING to players feedback? New World Order wtf! - I play Eve because I love Eve, don't go changing the game into something different

Why do you guys insist on adding more and more ships when there's major content problems that need resolving? Remember comet mining? Remember pos' that were useful? (a nice idea I know). Sort it out, and none of this bloody "Soon TM" crap - that just gets on everyone's nerves now. I don't see why we should have to wait for a year to get what should've come with Exodus. Btw Eve is great, and you devs are great - but just get with the program and stop slacking! ;)

I think you should concentrate on getting stable servers up and running before you start on new areas of gameplay.........you will find that while people are willing to pay for this game, they will become very annoyed at continuing server problems. You will increase you new player quota by doing this, only then should you start to inprove the ships and gameplay. Make a good base before building too high.... I have friends who joined for a few months, and now all they do is whine at me because they can never get on after downtime, or the game is CTD'ing all the time........this game needs to be alot more stable before it gets new introductions into its gameplay aspect. Remember that we are all paying customers and treat us as this....customers need also to be kept informed of ongoing problems, which does not seem very apparent over the last few weeks also.... Just adding some of my opinions :)) Fly safely.

I've played a bunch of the more prominant and high-vis MMO's and I find that by far Eve has more stable servers...taking the long view, of course. I have, by far, less trouble with Eve than with Matrix Online, Anarchy Online, Planetside, etc etc. But, I do think system scanning and fleet combat mechanics need to be addressed before new content is added.
