ISD Dorrim BarstorlodeBernie Nator

It is with a heavy heart that we write to inform you of the untimely passing of one of our esteemed community members and ISD volunteers, known in-game as Bernie Nator and ISD Dorrim Barstorlode.

Bernie was a stalwart in the EVE tournament scene and an active player within wormhole space. Bernie was a friend, mentor, and a beacon of positivity to everyone who had the good fortune of interacting with him. He was renowned for his friendly demeanor and camaraderie, making the universe of New Eden a welcoming place for both new and seasoned players.

His alter ego - ISD Dorrim Barstorlode - was a tireless contributor to our ISD volunteer program which he was a part of for over a decade. As a moderator on the EVE forums, he played a vital role in ensuring our community remained a respectful and engaging environment in one of its most hostile areas. Beyond that, he was a mentor to countless new ISDs over the years, guiding them through their roles and fostering a supportive community within our team.

He had a passion for sharing the wonders of New Eden and streamed regularly on CCP's Twitch channel where he would jump between different EVE systems and gates, showcasing the beauty of New Eden while interacting with the chat. His love for the game and its community was palpable in every broadcast, and he will be missed by everyone who tuned in to his show.

Whether you knew Bernie or you would just like to pay tribute to someone that so many fellow EVE players held so much respect for, everyone is invited to attend his memorial at the New Eden capsuleer cemetery located at Molea Planet II – Moon 1 on Saturday 13 May at 14:00 UTC where a can will be anchored and Bernie will be given a fireworks send off. Immediately after the ceremony Radakos will be leading a public Drake roam in Bernie's honor, forming up at and departing from the cemetery.

This loss is a poignant reminder of the connections and friendships formed within the vast expanse of our EVE universe. We are not just developers and players; we are a community and a family. And while we mourn the loss of one of our own, let us also take comfort in the shared memories and bonds that make EVE more than just a game.

In the face of this loss, we must remind ourselves that our universe, much like the real one, is filled with both joy and sorrow. We can take solace in the fact that Bernie's spirit will forever live on in the stars of New Eden and in the hearts of those he touched.

As we continue to navigate through the universe of EVE, let us carry forward Bernie's spirit of camaraderie, respect, and his unwavering passion for the game. In doing so, we honor his memory and keep alive the community he loved so much.

Eyes forward, capsuleer, the cyno is not yet lit.

Consider your modules, your rigs, and ammo before you undock, for the cyno is not yet lit.

Break free of the station and witness the universe before you, for the cyno is not yet lit.

Set your ship to fly through the vastness while you wait, for the cyno is not yet lit.

Pay attention, capsuleer, for those who have gone before you call for you to join them.

The cyno is now lit.
