The Cormorant is the Caldari State’s only proprietary ship design sourced from a third party. Rumors abound concerning its origin, naturally, but the identity of this Destroyer’s designers remains a tightly-kept secret in the State’s inner circle.
Counter to the Corax-class Destroyer’s specialization in Missiles, the Cormorant focuses its potential solely into Hybrid weaponry – providing an enormous increase to application with skill-scaling bonuses to both the tracking speed and optimal range of this class of turrets, along with a built-in 50% boost to Hybris turret optimal range on top of these. Combined with a total of eight turret hardpoints, this ship can serve as an extremely powerful and capable long-range sniper when fitted with Railguns.
As with other destroyers, however, the Cormorant can also serve as a profoundly efficient salvaging ship. With eight high slots, an enterprising pilot may fill an entire rack with Salvager modules, alongside whatever other modules or rigs may be of assistance in its other racks and Rig slots. Though the specialized Noctis-class Industrial Ship produced by ORE is often considered the ultimate salvage vessel, a Destroyer is far more accessible, mobile, and significantly more affordable – allowing a Capsuleer seeking to reap the wreckage of others to speedily slip across the stars and salvage any battlefield they may come across.
