The Handover Of Serenity – Thank You & Farewell
(English Translation Below)
It’s always difficult to say farewell, and it’s even harder when you’re saying it to an old friend.
From the very beginning of our partnership in 2012, Tiancity and CCP have collaborated to deliver the best experience possible for our Chinese capsuleers playing on the Serenity cluster. Tiancity has shown us the benefits and impact that a passionate and dedicated publisher can have by providing the most authentic EVE experience possible for our players in China.
With their experience in the Chinese gaming market and their professionalism and commitment to EVE, Tiancity have successfully assisted in building an incredible community on the Serenity server, demonstrating time and time again that they understand the needs and requirements of our Chinese player base.
Over the last six years, we have seen Serenity become an amazing and vibrant universe, something that would not be possible without the efforts of Tiancity. These six years have seen countless remarkable moments that have happened on the serenity cluster, including The Bloodbath of 49-U6U, which is still noted as the largest battle in the history of New Eden. Tens of thousands of pilots from the Serenity cluster have also had their names etched in history, on the Worlds Within a World EVE Online Monument in Reykjavík, Iceland.
The Worlds Collide event in 2015 introduced pilots from Serenity to the world stage for the first time, as they battle against combatants from Tranquility love on stage at Fanfest, and the infamous Permaband also travelled to Shanghai for an unforgettable performance to mark the 10th anniversary of EVE Online in China.
Together with Tiancity, we have witnessed countless breath-taking memories being written into New Eden’s history. We’ve shared joy and tears, created milestones and records and ultimately, we’ve made each other stronger through shared experience, passion and vision for EVE Online.
Eventually, all voyages come to an end. Today, after a six-year journey filled with unforgettable memories, we have reached an agreement that will see the partnership between Tiancity and CCP end on September 30th, 2018.
EVE Online: Ascension, which first launched on Tranquility in November 2016, saw the introduction of the most significant changes in the history of EVE Online. It certainly changed the wat that our pilots play EVE and we’ve been thrilled with the effect it’s had on the landscape of New Eden.
Nevertheless, we understand that the Chinese market may be quite different, so we will not hastily launch it on Serenity until we find the correct way in which to do so.
Meanwhile, on the corporate level, by seeing the significant potential for positive change that this expansion may have on Serenity and its community, we have been investigating how best to update or business roadmap for the Chinese market.
After evaluating options, and speaking with potential Chinese business partners, we finally made the difficult decision to move on. After supportive and considerate negotiations with Tiancity, we both agreed to draw our partnership to a close, but to keep Serenity running as normal until we are ready to take EVE in China to the next level.
We offer our sincerest thanks to Tiancity for their professionalism when responding to concerns from Serenity’s players, especially given the choice not to deploy any new expansions to Serenity since 2016. We also offer our thanks to Tiancity for their continued efforts to host events in order to offers as much new content to our pilots on Serenity as possible.
As always, CCP will always remain devoted to our core values – to bring unique and innovative game experiences to our players across the globe. In the coming months, we will be working closely with Tiancity and our new partner in China to ensure a smooth transition, and our pilots on Serenity can rest assured that we will do our best to preserve the history and legacy that our Chinese players have created.
A new chapter in the history of New Eden is currently being written – you are witnessing it now, and our pilots on Serenity will experience it soon.
News regarding our new publisher in China will be coming soon. Please keep an eye on this news feed for further information.
