Community Beat for 22 December

2023-12-22 - By EVE Online Community Team

Welcome, capsuleers, to the final Community Beat of 2023!

Between 20th anniversary celebrations, two major expansions, EVE Fanfest, dozens of player meets, in-game tournaments & events, and thousands of hours of player-created content – you’ve made 2023 truly amazing!

To round out the year, we’ve got a special treat for you! Our in-house band, Crowd Kon7rol, has released a Christmas song. So sit back, pour some Quafe into a champagne flute, turn up the music, and enjoy the show!

Contributing To The Frontlines

Havoc certainly brought chaos to the frontlines. BearThatCares proved that you can contribute outside of running complexes or scoring PvP kills. Ships die in the warzone, and sometimes you just need to get back in the action! By building, importing, fitting, and listing those ships on contract, Minmatar Fleet was able to keep thousands of pilots in ships quickly. Turning a nice profit helps, too!

If you were sitting on the sidelines because you never viewed yourself a PvPer – here’s your call to get out there and contribute to the fight!

Pixel Perfect!

If you loved the art style of that infographic, our very own CCP Zelus shared some pixel space-art he picked up over the years while playing. These gifs run on his PC’s CPU cooler (don’t ask us how, he’s a wizard!)

Great Balls of Ice!

The Luminaire snowball fight is a tradition that Commander A9 has shepherded for years. This year’s celebration didn’t disappoint, with the frosty fracas lighting up space and setting the tone for holiday celebrations. Special shoutout to all the participants, and congrats to all the winners! Speaking of great tunes, DJ Daggaroth of New Eden radio did an amazing job providing the soundtrack to the fun event. We’re already looking forward to next year to see how the iconic snowball fight evolves.

Hel Hath No Fury

Over on YouTube, AGOR2 shared an amazing model Hel build. Some capsuleers choose a ship because it aligns with their skillplan, others choose based on the ship’s relative strength. Every time we run across a Hel pilot, It seems like they choose one part aesthetics, one part speed, and the rest pure damage. No tank? No problem – Hel pilots keep their ship together through sheer force of will!

At over one foot long, we love this build and the astounding paint job AGOR2 applied.

Santa’s Little Helper

PushX is one of New Eden’s premier space trucking services. If you’re anything like us, you leave your things all over New Eden A Rifter here, Amarrian Wheat there, and that chonky stack of Tritanium from your mining adventures. We’ve all been there. If you need a little extra push this year to get your presents delivered on time ((or just consolidate your junk)), PushX are offering reduced rush fees for their services.

To Jump Or Not To Jump!

Traveling in EVE always includes some element of danger, whether you’re flying a blinged-out Barghest for missions or a day-tripping Astero – intel is key! Luckily for us, Floris Saucus has the perfect tool: EVE Gatecamp Check! While it’s not fool-proof, extra intel can’t hurt. Simply put in your route and the tool will let you know if there were kills in that system recorded in the last hour. From now until the new year, Floris has made the Premium features free to all giving you additional peace of mind in your travels.

Et tu, Brutix?

Solo gameplay is always a challenge in New Eden, especially when PvP is involved. We’re obsessed with the YouTube series, This is Ami, where a veteran pilot brings a new PvP character directly into lowsec, alone, with one simple goal: survival (and maybe some kills). While no longer in Ami, this series is always a fascinating watch and it’s fun to see all the interactions that a lowsec pirate has – from making the unlikeliest of friends, to those vowing revenge. In this episode Monika Townsendt showcases a Navy Brutix fit that terrorizes Kubinen. Top stuff!

As we close this year’s final Community Beat, from all of us here at CCP, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you. Your remarkable contributions, from epic battles to intricate diplomacy, make New Eden the extraordinary universe it is. We couldn't imagine this 20th anniversary journey without your amazing contributions. Here's to you and the countless adventures that await in the next year and beyond.

Fly safe and see you in 2024!
