EVE is dying, and so is everything

For it is fated

The Great Event

Will wipe out all

The EVE Universe is rich in history, created by the players themselves. Wars, betrayals, alliances, Guinness-record setting battles, and victories against impossible odds have shaped New Eden for over two decades. Few digital spaces can boast this level of continuity and community-owned history, and in the face of the impermanence of virtual worlds, these stories deserve a more permanent form. A means of preservation that feels as mythic as the events themselves.

The Capsuleer Edda turns digital history into physical mythology. Moments from killmails, battle reports, and the memories of capsuleers are transformed into verse that is then captured in a handcrafted artifact, rooted in Icelandic tradition.

It’s a way to announce to the world: these stories matter.

The Stories of New Eden

The Capsuleer Edda will preserve major moments from the history of EVE Online and New Eden, including:

  • Legendary battles such as B-R5RB, M2-XFE

  • Infamous scams, betrayals, and acts of espionage

  • Major alliances, corporations and political shifts

  • Roleplay and lore-defining events

  • Stories of industry, colonization, warfare, exploration, and survival

  • Selected personal stories from the community

The point here is to reinterpret player history as epic mythology, rather than just listing events.

The Blood of Capsuleers

The Capsuleer Edda is inspired in part by real-world mythology and in part by the darker religious and ritual themes within EVE lore.

More than that, though, we want to symbolically and literally connect capsuleers to the Edda. Which is why we decided to write it in blood. It makes it feel even more impactful than the narratives and myths hosted within.

This is not because the traditional manuscripts of the sagas and Eddas were written in blood – they were not. But in mythology, blood is often connected to oaths, magic, intent, sacrifice, and consequences. As such, the ink used for the Capsuleer Edda is symbolically infused with blood, collected from volunteers in very small amounts. Visitors to EVE Fanfest 2026 were offered the chance to donate a drop of blood to the effort.

The Creators of the Edda

The Capsuleer Edda is a collaborative project between Fenris Creations and writers, artists, manuscript experts, calligraphers, and traditional craft experts.

The project is connected to Icelandic literary tradition through writers who have a deep understanding of mythology, poetry, history, and classical as well as contemporary storytelling.

Andri Snær Magnason is an award winning Icelandic writer and filmmaker whose work spans poetry, fiction, children’s literature and nonfiction. His work has been published internationally and is known for combining imagination, cultural reflection, and large scale themes.

Jonas Reynir Gunnarsson is an acclaimed Icelandic poet and novelist whose work has been recognized in Iceland and Europe. His writing brings literary depth, poetic craft, and a strong connection to modern Icelandic storytelling.

Together, they will help bridge ancient saga traditions with the living mythology created by EVE players.

The Capsuleer Edda FAQ

The Preservation of Mythology

The Capsuleer Edda is designed to last for centuries or even millennia. It is the first Icelandic writing to be preserved on vellum (calf skin) in over 700 years.

Vellum is one of the most durable writing materials in human history. Many medieval vellum manuscripts have survived for hundreds of years, and if properly preserved it can endure far longer than most modern storage media.

EVE is a digital universe, but the Capsuleer Edda gives its history and design philosophy physical form that can outlast servers, websites, and archives.

Why the Capsuleer Edda Matters

This is more than a vanity project for EVE players. It’s a monument for gamers in general.

The history of EVE Online is the history of its players. For more than two decades, capsuleers have waged wars, formed alliances, staged bold betrayals and heists, formed friendships, and created legends. The Capsuleer Edda captures that history, but it’s about so much more.

It’s a testament to games as a medium for storytelling, social interaction, and meaning.

Fenris Creations has the stated goal of creating virtual worlds that are more meaningful than real life. The Capsuleer Edda reaches beyond the digital world of EVE Online, into the physical realm, and may even end up in space (one day).

For players of other games in the EVE Universe, it is an invitation to craft their own unforgettable stories and myths, contributing to the history of New Eden. And for players and creators of other virtual worlds, it should serve as inspiration to craft their own epic sagas.
